Gear Teach procedure

Hi Everyone,
If you have ever wondered how to do the gear teach (for those who don't have a 1299) please see attached memo. Works a treat. Word of advice, when it says turn wheel, turn it hard so you hear the ECU acknowledge the position...trust me you'll know what I mean when you hear it.

Hello,

for some reason i cant get it to work on my pani 899 2014. I cant reset the gears with the clutch pulled in, checked the micro-switch all seems fine. Is there any other way to reset te gear sensor to flash the letter C or is the DDS the only option?

Hi mate,

It took me about 10 goes to get it right. I can only suggest try again. Remember that the first sequence doesn't change anything, you have to do it twice.....fucked if I know why
Make sure after you let the clutch out you roll back the wheel 10-20 degrees and then slam it forward so the positioner moves. The ECU should make a loud noise to confirm it has sequenced.

In my case the issue was initiated when I disconnected the BBS, others have had it happen when the battery voltage has gone to low. Maybe try disconnecting the BBS unit or disconnect the battery to see if it will initiate the fault and you might get the C back, otherwise you might be off to the dealer.

Hi,

Interesting reading!
Particularly the part where it says it's not for the 1299... Does anyone know why? I have a problem with mine... Is there a similar procedure for the 1299 maybe? Any suggestion is welcome!
Thx!

The 1299 has an extra gear position sensor which 1199/899/959 doesnt have.
It seems to be a potentiometer base sensor, so rough guess you would need the DDS to read and set values in each gear.

And the DDS is a Ducati shop tool? I guess it is...

Thx for info!

Hi mate,
Page 226 of your manual details how to do it. Apparently its a lot easier done by a dealer on a dyno.
