Survey: V2 Titanium Cam Shaft Clamp Bolts

Dear Members

I was really suprised to see that there are some members left in the forum which are replacing OEM bolts on their bikes

I am still shedding weight on my three Panigales....

Next step: I want to replace the M8x32 10.9 high tensile bolts in the two cylinder heads (#7 in the picture). There are 16 pcs. Same for all newer Testastretta engines.

Due to their critical function, I don't want to replace them with regular Grade 5 (Ti-6Al-4V) titanium bolts but forged ones. But these are pretty expensive (guys that bought from ProTi know what I mean) and I tought I'll ask you whether someone else would be interested before I get quotes from some manufacturers (I tend to Taiwan).

Please let me know if you want to change those screws.

Cheers

PS: In order to replace these bolts it is required to remove the cylinder head covers. Ducati recommends to replace the cover gaskets when doing so...

Torque spec on the camshaft retaining bolts is 22.5nm and the camshaft clamps are aluminum. The yield strength of the 10.9 bolt is around 1040 MPa (150,000) psi. The G5 6AL-4V Ti bolts achieve a strength range between Class 8.8 and Class 10.9 alloy steel equivalent bolts, with a Tensile Strength of 950 MPa (138,000 psi). I currently have Ti bolts in this application (G5 6AL-4V). They have been in the motor since 2015 now 16K plus miles. They were sourced from Poggipolini. I have the cover off the vertical cylinder. I will check the torque spec and I will pull one of the cap bolts and check the stretch. I'm pretty sure they are rock solid. If you are going to make some and they have paperwork (the Poggi stuff does) I will grab a few sets.
