Angry 959 Death when putting in gear (tow required)

Soo..

Sitting at a traffic light on my way home today, light changes and i put it in gear. As soon as i hear the "click" of going in gear i have a complete loss of all electric power. I ended up getting a tow and haven't diagnosed the issue yet (previous mechanical experience tells me this sounds like a fuse) but has anyone else experienced this?

I Ride: V4S and Ninja 400. Dichotomy.
If by "loss of electrical power" you mean the dash literally turns off, then you have something like a battery terminal cable that has come loose, a ground wire that has come loose, or a wiring harness issue of some kind with a short somewhere, most likely a melted wire that was routed incorrectly or something like that. If you just mean the ignition turns off but the dash is still on, it's just your side stand sensor, the bike thinks the stand is down and it kills the ignition as soon as you put it in gear. Either the wiring connector came loose, the switch itself is loose, or the switch has gone bad. Unfortunately you can't just jumper the switch on those to get rolling again like we could on the older bikes, it requires a resistor to work.

Had the exact same thing happen to me on my way to work one day. Dealer found a spot on my harness that was rubbed through the insulation and caused a short which popped the fuse. They repaired the chaffed wire and I haven't had an issue since.

If your dash won't turn on I would check the main fuse, if it popped I would check for chaffed wiring.

hope this helps
