GoPro Settings

I just got a GoPro from my wife as an early Fathers Day gift. What is the best resolution for use while riding. I tried 1080-30 wide today and the picture kept skipping. Not good at all.

I also bought the wifi bacpac with it and this is a must if you use one of these. It comes with a remote so you can access all menus and start video or take photos using it. I attached it to my triple clamp using the wrist strap that came with it and I could easily and safely turn it on, off, start video, etc... Nice add for 99 bucks. I'm really looking forward to when they come out with the app for video viewing on your smartphone using this add on.

Only couple of things I can think of re the skipping is:
Make sure you're recording in the right mode for playback (NTSC your side of the pond)
Also make sure you memory card can handle high speed data. => Class 6 or something. 1080 is a LOT of data per second so maybe the card isn't up to it.

Check NTSC, then start small and work up, see where your problem kicks in.

Thanks Rhino.

Could be the card. It's a class 10 but it says 20MB/s on it. Is that read or transfer speed? Or are they the same? I see one card online that says 35MB/s. I guess I'll have to try some different things with it.

I have a class 10 card Transcend 32GB that I run at 1080 - 30 settings without any skipping issues that I can see. Are you converting the video at all?

How are people mounting them to the bike? With the sucker or stickys? Didn't realise the WiFi remote was out yet!?

I figured it out. It's my computer. I hooked up the GoPro to my work computer and it worked just fine with zero skipping. My machine is seven years old and it apparently does not like the file sizes, etc. I was looking for an excuse to buy a new one anyway.

I did the suction cup on the side on a few vids but there is quit a bit of vibration. I could not find a flat enough spot for the suction cup on the tank and I wasnt going to stick one of the adhesive mounts on it.

Changed to this set-up today. I used the adhesive but I put a zip tie on there for safety purposes. It's very stable in this position.

That positioning is really good.
Get the whole dash and a full view.

On my (848) track fairing, I've got a sticky mount:
- at the bottom of the screen at the front, for an unobstructed front view
- at the top of the screen on the inside, for dash/front or reverse for rider
- on the tail front/reverse

Street fairing:
- at the top of the tinted screen on the inside, for dash/front or reverse for rider
- on the tail front/reverse

3 GoPro cams, 1 HD, 2 SD.
Covers everything at the track but tend to just use the HD most times

I've got the BacPac LCD screen which is pretty awesome.
Helps make sure it's pointing in the right direction and to review your footage.

I've also got a QStars GPS laptimer and dashware software to overlay GPS data onto my GoPro footage. Works really well! Would be good if we can use the DDA+ data with Dashware as well.

(I'm pretty shit btw. Front end feels like poo Good times around this short track are 62-63.)

Not sure where everything is going to go on the 99 yet.

I just got the wi-fi remote kit, works great. No more having to turn them on too early or forget it's on. One little remote controls multiple cams, you can even leave the camera off to save battery life.
