I am glad they updated the electronics & Ohlins, but I still like my Duke better for the street.

I find the Monster to be too low to the ground, but some great improvements here forsure!
Thanks from b9009b

My fear is that the 160 hp is woefully optimistic. If this engine is lifted from the Mutli, I saw dyno results that were very low 130s.

Reviews have the XR stomping the Multi.

I hope that is not the case.... Looks like a great package so far!

I'd lovingly take the SD before this as a streetbike. But they seem to keep selling out here quickly..

131hp at the rear wheel from the Multi, which has the same 160hp output. 99% sure this is literally the same motor.

In comparison the S1000XR put down 151 rear wheel hp from a claimed 160hp.

Seeing someone ride a Monster like that just looks wrong.

Maybe you could have called it an SP or something but to call it an R is just embarrassing. The Monster is a street bike, not an aggressive street/track crossover bike like the Streetfighter was. If they wanted to put a super naked against the S1000R and 1290 SDR it had to be a totally new Street Fighter not a Monster with a few tweaks.

Terrible decision.
Thanks from MMC

I understand your point, but I wonder the price

This could be a factor for the popularity.

It is not the DVT motor actually. Just a higher compression dual spark motor with bigger throttles. Think previous gen Multi with small upgrades.
