My bet this is close to Metzler's Comp K tire (their trackday slick that needs no warmers) with Metzler and Pirelli being apart of the same family its maybe just a grooved version. Im curious to how they will feel as well. If they're like the Q4s which Jarel is absolutely right about I would stick with the SP or SC. The Q4s I ran through the ringer when they first came out. I used Dunlop's recommended pressures and adjusted slightly, no matter what I found that they heat up fast and get greasy by mid day when its real hot on track. When temp is right there is an impressive amount of grip, but once you start to push it you'll find out that you're not on race rubber. The SPs will handle the heat more like a race compound than the Q4s as well as offer a little more outright grip and feel a lot more familiar (at least to me). I believe the new TD tire will give you the same impression as the Q4 but a little more familiar if you're used to Pirellis. Although I am currently stuck on the Metlzer Racetech RRs which gives me a choice of compound (soft and super soft) and I don't have to go pay full price from a race distributor. A buddy using Bridgestone R11s also praised them as well for how well they hold their own compared to race rubber.

But Jarel raised great points, Pirelli definitely needed to respond, a friend of mine just bought his second set of Q4s after previously running SPs because he finds that it is plenty for what he needs at a much better price. I will probably test a set this summer, I will let you know how it goes!

I am on a brand new bike this year. (2015R, yes 0 miles) so I will run through two rear sets and one front SP. That is when I will put the trigger on the TD's or go to the Q4 again. I was on a set last season and found they were a great tire for my ability. I ran them in September in New England. So track temps were not that high, 70's or so. I will see how they fair in June and July. I want to keep with a good street and track tire if possible, the bike see's both track as well as some street.

Alright so Supercorsa TD a Step up SP, but right below the SC, Still DOT so you can run it in the street, the SP is an OEM tire for Ducati so that's why it's expensive, TD means Track Day, the Dunlop Q4 really barely compares to Rosso Corsa 2 come on lol Corsa 2s have Sticky
SC3 compound. TD maybe to aquire more bussiness from dunlop but still better then Q4.

I would say the Q3 is more of a comparison to the Q3+. The SP will still deliver a better all out grip than the TD. The Q4 tire is not a replacement for the Q3. The Q4 was made to outsell the market of the SP because of its cost savings.

I laid my tire lay out this season. New bike has SP tires, I will run two rears to the one front. Then move to the TD tire to see how this tire stacks up back to back coming of their SP. If inspired to do so I will go to the Q4 for a direct comparison to the TD. My guess is the TD and Q4 will offer same grip levels but different stiffness in carcass.

About 3 weeks or so before it was introduced, Pirelli told my distributor that their new TD is direct competition with the Dunlop Q4. I bought the first set that came in. I haven't ridden the Q4, but I can say, without hesitation, that the new TD is the stickiest street/track trackday tire I've ever ridden. No warmers needed. Will wait until I have to replace them to offer thoughts about wear on the TD. The SPs came on my 1299S. The SPs are my standard street tire that I also use on the track. Unless the wear on my TDs is unreasonable, I'll say that they are my new street/track tire!

I will be very interested in feedback on this. I ran Q3+ tires last year and switched to the Q4 after i was over heating the Q3+ and was having the tire slide on me. The Q4 was a very impressive tire. If the TD out performes the Q4, I may have a new go to tire.

Just Picked up my TD tires last Sunday - They seem to have a softer carcass when compared to the SP .

I have both non mounted - i noticed it is significantly easier to press down on the middle of the side of the tire on the Supercorsa TD vs the Supercorsa SP.

I wonder how this will transition to feel and footprint on the track, I am assuming more grip and more feel.

Perhaps the carcass has a softer feel bc it is one rubber layout over nthe duel compound of the SP?
