Pirelli Supercorsa TD

Just took notice that Pirelli just announced a new Supercorsa tire, the Supercorsa TD. Ive read every rrview on this tire and didn't see anything stating this us a replacement for the SP, which offers amazing grip. Is this a higher standard?
Last year Dunlop came out with the Q4, which was a direct comparison to the already great SP.
Anyone have thoughts?

We'll be getting our first shipment of them in a week or so, so jury's still out on ultimate performance and life, but it looks encouraging at least. The TD is being offered as a lower cost alternative to the SP to make Pirelli competitive with the other "track day" tire offerings on the market. It will have similar grip and performance characteristics to the SP, with maybe a slight decrease it ultimate outright grip at the limit vs. the SP, but we'll have to see how it shapes up after we get some laps logged on them. Please note though that the the rear is NOT going to be available in the 200/60 profile (200/55 only), so most guys on Panigales are not going to run them.

Awesome , thank you for the clarification. I found a site that was offering them, a set with the 200 series size was $366 a set?
That being said I thought it was a discoint orice and I was thinking they were a replacement of the SP. Cost wise they are not bad at all. I mostly track my bikes and still go to the street.
Would you believe they are supposed to offer as much grip as the Q4?

Just to clarify the 200 rear in that tire is a 200/55 NOT the 200/60 size that the Panigale uses. You CAN use a 200/55 on it, but will compromise the handling a little bit and the smaller circumference of the tire will require recalibration of the electronics. The price for a set of 200/55 and 120/70 is $359. Yes Pirelli is specifically targeting the Q4 with this tire, most people feel that Pirelli has better grip but the Q4 was SO much cheaper than the Supercorsa SP that it prompted Pirelli to do something to compete. I haven't ridden on it myself yet, but I'm 99.3% confident that the Pirelli will outperform the Q4 on the track.

Only the V4 uses the 60 profile, the V2s all use the 55 profile SP.

This is great feedback. I will give them a shot this season. The SP replacement is $$$. But you get what you pay for. The OEM tire size on both my 15 R and FE is a 200/55/17 in the rear. The FE seea limited use , the 15 R will see the majority of the track use.

Sorry, I was doing this from my phone and I thought it was in the V4 forum! You're good to go on the "old" Panigale! :-)

Clearly you need to trade it in on a Panigale V4R!
