1199 Akrapovic noise level?!?

Hi all,

I'm fairly new to the fourm and so far have remained on the side lines just taking information as I've needed it but I'm now after something a little more specific regarding the Akrapovic Evolution line titanium exhaust for the 1199.

Anyone have experience with said full system and track days? The system noise level stated on the website is 107 db but it's not clear whether that's with or without a baffle. More to the point after speaking to a dealer selling the system I was then informed it doesn't even have a provision for a baffle which seems a bit silly/pointless if I can't use it on track.

Any advice to help clear this matter up would be great as obviously I won't buy one if I can't use it on the track.

Thanks,
Luke

Hope you'll receive a reply soon; as I too, am seriously considering to get a set despite the added attention I'll get from our law enforcement officers.

I got full titanium on my panigale R.We tested ful ltermignoni and full akrapovic because i wanted to see which sounds louder,because i like the louder it gets the better.This might sound funny but its far far far far far more loud then termignoni.From what it is stated 107db is because of the europe homologation in Germany.Factory was denied a homologation paper several times due to noise levels,so they did something to surrpress that noise level and ended 107 ''officialy''.But when you buy it you get a full open there is not a singe thing in the exhaust and it sounds insane and far more loud then 107db.Now i do not care so much for power but for sound i do,and if termignoni sounded louder i would take it but it does not.
I had same thing with 1098R one with full akra other with full termi same thing akra sounded far louder,and we tested it also in few different things.

Now how we tested,idle,revving in standing position and drive by in 1st,2nd,3rd,4th fgear fully opened to the max.It sounded louder
Conclusion termi cannot compare to akra on power,desing,sound its just the way it is
Thanks from Prince Albert and Mutt1979

@Ronin:

Did you do anything to your ecu after
fitting the Akra system? Power Commander, rexxer
or anything else?

If you didn't get your ecu tuned, which map are you running..
Standard or a Termignoni map (race, race evo)?

Update!

The same dealer who first gave me the information on the Akra Evo system has since e-mailed me back after speaking to Akrapovic themselves (see below)........

Hi Luke,

I emailed the Akrapovic UK importer yesterday to clarify why this system is too loud and does not include baffles but please see the response they received from Akrapovic below.

“Loudness of our exhaust is on the same level as stock exhaust. It is just not completely clear on details as even stock has 105dBJ. There are removable noise inserts included.”

This being the case this will be fine to use on UK track days and due to it having baffles will be quieter with them fitted.

Please get in touch if you have any more questions.

Regards

So after that I've just asked them to confirm the db figure of 102 db or less with inserts and hopefully I will be the proud owner of an Akrapovic full system........ooooOOOOoooo.......... watch this space

@python4933:
Apparently no re-map needed however an ECU re-flash of the standard map is recommended.

Eh, I say the importer is also trying to sell units...

I'm not saying he tailored his message to his audience... I'm just sayin.

Also ronin said he's tried & heard both.

I had thought that about the dealer so I will be a bit cautious before parting with my cash.

Thats why I sent him another e-mail to confirm the db level with inserts/baffles just to be sure, but I guess if he's just trying to sell like you say............
