Not how I wanted to introduce myself.....

Hey all,

I need to get this out there, for those who wouldn't read the entire post... If you have purchased a 2017 1299s w/ 3400 miles and the VIN ZDM14BYW9HB008826, there is oil coming from the left side of the motor. Enough to cover the fairing and drip to the ground. It would have been cleaned off when you purchased it I am sure.

The story,
I have been lurking for a couple months as I searched for a Panigale (1st ducati), even have contacted some members here who are selling.

This past weekend I drove from Ohio to Virginia to pick up a 2017 1299s from a used car dealer. All seemed great until we were finishing up and walking back to his office I noticed a stained oil spot on the floor where he kept the bikes (looked like it had been cleaned up). I couldn't see any indication it was even from the bike as it was moved out to start up.

After letting it run to temperature in the garage I decided to look it over for the 5th time. After some digging, I noticed a small stream coming from the left side of the motor, looks like that little weep hole I have seen people post issues about w/ coolant leaks. Could even see some stains on the case where it had dripped down. Maybe I was dazzled and missed it the first few times, but it was apparent now.

Dealer claims he knows nothing about it. I am there with cash in hand ready to buy. The bike has 5 months of warranty left, Dealer will not negotiate on price and instead makes an appointment with a Ducati shop to have it inspected.

At the moment that seemed the best solution, I left without the bike and an agreement to proceed with the sale after Ducati's findings. I would even work out the shipping arrangements (you can only drive 16 hours once for the same bike).

Well, it has been 5 days and no phone calls returned from the 'dealer". Ducati even called me and said he missed the appointment. The bike has been removed from the website and sold to another buyer. I have to assume none of my concerns ever left his office. My guess, it was easier to find a damp rag than trailer it to the shop.

These kinds of things are shady, dishonest, and DANGEROUS! I am not sure about the policy on posting dealers information so I will not unless someone chimes in.

All in all, I am glad to not have done business with him but worry about the new owner being duped...
Thanks from Phl and Blade Runner

You're free to post whatever you want....especially if it means dealing with a shady dealer. Expose those bastards n let em rot.

Sounds like a public spirited safety warning to me as the oil could easily spread to the rear tyre and cause a crash... post away..

Yeah they would have, a tiny part of me wished I loaded it up. But wasn't paying full price to take it back home then wait who knows how long to get it fixed. Especially at the full asking price.

Dealers name is NRA Auto Sales and Services LLC out of Winchester Virginia. They have yet to turn their phone back on. He is writing a bunch of fake reviews attacking any negative review. Classy guy

Is is all about making that extra buck! Classy. I am glad you did not get screwed, but like you I am concerned about the individual they sold this bike to.

Lucky escape, man. You done the right thing. Good luck with a future purchase. I'm new to the fold here, Pani 1299 base, after two Aprilia V4's. Only done 450 miles or so, but enjoying the ride.
