I Ride: 2019 Panigale V4S
Question New to this forum and New to Ducati question about sight glass oil level

Thanks for the Add
Picked up a 2019 Panigale V4s
Love it!!!!!
just now hit 625 miles and im getting ready to bring it in for its 1st service
so I go and look at the oil level at the sight glass and now im confused !?!?!?!

the manual says put the bike on a level surface turn the wheel straight look in the glass if its above the minimunm level then its ok....
BUT...
Everyone I ask says that the bike has to be level and off the kick stand to be checked
so when I check with the kickstand down the oil level looks fine and within range but when I stand the bike up and look the oil cant be seen at all.

so what do i do ???
Do I top it off and risk over filling
OR
do I leve it as is and risk ruining the engine.

if I top it off what oil do I use ?
I was told that i shouldnt top it off because the oil that is in there is "break-in" oil and it should not be mixed with the regular Ducati Recomended oil Shell Advanced Ducati 15W-50 Fully Synthetic

It should come with Shell from the get go. The bike needs to be straight up and down on a level surface, i.e. on a rear stand. Let it sit for a just a minute if its been running and then check. It should be between the two dots.

For right now use the Shell to top off. And, like you said before, being careful not to overfill. Later on you can use whatever oil you prefer. There are lots of good ones out there for a lot less than the Shell.

Yeah, use whatever is in there already. It should be the Shell. You don't want to mix brands of oil. They all use different additives and what not. And it is normal for a new engine to burn a little oil while it breaks in.

Correction: NOT on a rear stand unless one is also on a front stand. That is, the bike has to be standing straight up AND level. If it is on the rear stand, you will get an inaccurate reading.
