COTA trackday

found this on facetubes,
won't go there though, for that money i can do 4 race weekends - some of you have deep enough pockets, so i thought i'd share it.

Ducati, in cooperation with Jason Pridmore's STAR Motorcycle School, is excited to announce “Ducati Revs America,” a premium two-day Ducati track experience to be held at Circuit of The Americas on September 29 & 30, 2014. This unique opportunity comes complete with world-class instruction from AMA Pro Racing champion Jason Pridmore, technical demonstrations from Ducati, fully catered breakfast and lunch on both days, a special guest rider appearance, dinner reception, and more!

Registration opens to the public on Friday, August 15 at 9:00am CDT. In order to deliver a truly premium track experience, space has been limited to ninety participants, which translates to more track time and a higher level of personalized instruction. Due to the limited number of spaces and limited number of opportunities to ride at Circuit of the Americas, this event is expected to sell out quickly. We strongly encourage all that are interested to register before it’s too late.

Event Details

“Ducati Revs America” is a two-day track school designed to build confidence and speed, while making you a safer rider. Whether you’re a street rider headed to the track for the first time or a track day junkie looking to improve your lap time, Jason Pridmore and his team of instructors will build upon your current skills and tailor the program to your needs to deliver instruction that exceeds your expectations, all while having the time of your life!

The school will be broken up into three groups of thirty, categorized by experience level of the participant.

Breakfast and Lunch will be catered on both days.

Included in the experience is a dinner reception for all participants on the evening of September 29 complete with special guest rider appearance.

All participants will receive a commemorative T-shirt, Ducati gift package and certificate of completion.

All makes and models of motorcycles are welcome so long as they meet the minimum criteria and safety requirements required by Circuit of the Americas and STAR Motorcycle School.

Participants must have a minimum of one year of street riding experience.

Further details surrounding participant requirements will be released on Friday, August 15.

Hmmmm. I've done the Pridmore school and got a TON out of it. In fact, I will do it yearly as time permits. But at that price, I'm heading to YCRS. If I'm going to COTA I just want a regular trackday or race weekend. Not a school.

It seems expensive but COTA costs a lot to ride and track days are usually $500 per day so if you are getting a lot of instruction etc it may not actually be bad value but i would prefer to do the YCRS weekend.

A while back I looked into renting the track and from what i remember it was $50k per day so they need to recoup their money.

Yeah, my thought process is that at a school, I could care less what the track is. I'm only going to be riding at 60-80 percent while working on skills. So an exotic location really does nothing for me. I've done both Pridmore and YCRS multiple times and know the value is in the knowledge gained.

Hence, if I ever get to ride COTA, I just want to ride and revel in the fact that I'm on the same track that Marquez won on. Just tickles the childhood fantasy part of my brain a bit.

Sounds like a great chance to get quality instruction and ride a great track. Am I off in thinking that for $1900 you should at least get a bike to ride?

What is standard pricing for something like this with and without a bike provided?

bike rental is usually $300-$400 plus $100 for insurance which is optional.

depending on the level of instruction you get it's not bad value

I think that is a little high for not having a bike provided. You can go to a Ducati track experience event ride with Niccolo Canepa, meet Troy Bayliss, and they provide an 899 for you to ride.

As far as riding COTA, world wide there are just as nice tracks, that can be rented out for for cheap, example Sepang is $15,000 for a half day, Losail, and a host of F1 tracks, and they are staffed with emergency crews, ambulances, and doctors.

COTA better check the rent in the neighborhood, before setting such prices...lol.

Yup, that's the number I've seen thrown around as well. I believe that is the weekday rate as well too.
