2018 WSBK rules...???
After reading this I don't like the new rules... What do you all think?

Macattack Nov 18th 2017 05:59 PM

so the logic at hand is: punish the fast team because their superiority is due to machine superiority not talent .
ergo give the slower team faster parts so their machinery will propel them to the top
ergo the slower team will now be the faster team and this (if you squint) translates to talent shining through .

More and more like nascar every year. Becoming a feel good game.

Next they will add the points chase for the last 10 races

BSB has done a version of this for the past few years. I would actually prefer that over the technical rules that WSBK is rolling out if I'm being honest.

I live in the UK and have no idea what the rules are for the showdown thing that BSB does. What I would say is that MotoGP is excellent to watch now so Dorna do seem to know what they are talking about. Whether there are any political preferences between the two series I don't know but something needs to happen to shake it up as WSB isn't particularly exciting just now. We need good competition for the new V4 as well :)

BSB "Showdown" is just top six riders for the last three events are actually competing for the championship. Essentially they get re-set to zero at that point.

Dumb. Whats next, grooved tires, Hybrid power and seatbelts??:)

If it's about talent shining through why not go with a spec bike more like Moto 2? How does this effect the manufacturers development thought process if there is no reward for creating the best vine within the rules? Clearly I'm skeptical of these new rules and the overall impact it will have on the series and bikes.

I think it's more about keeping a wide variety of manufacturers interested in participating by eliminating a dominant bike from the equation. I think it's also about creating a wide separation between WSBK and MotoGP, which Dorna also controls.
