Pirro about JLo 99

translated by the agents of google:

Test driver Michele Pirro: "Lorenzo drives very differently now"

Ducati test driver Michele Pirro on his work and progress with Jorge Lorenzo - The Spaniard now drives very differently than in the past with the Yamaha

(Motorsport-Total.com) - Test driver Michele Pirro is an important man behind the scenes for the Ducati upswing. During countless test drives, the Italian worked with the technicians and looked for new solutions. In the past season, his work changed a bit, because he tried to help Jorge Lorenzo. With his experience Pirro knows exactly how to drive the Desmosedici and was able to give Lorenzo accordingly tips and help.

The conversion process took longer than many thought. "He's a great champion and eventually switched and tried to solve the problem, but after nine years with Yamaha, changing things is not so easy," says Pirro at 'MotoGP.com'. "But I think he has the speed to win and you can see that he's riding a lot differently now than with the Yamaha, so he lets the bike slip into the corners and drives a lot more crossways."

"The bike was a challenge for him because he did not expect to have such a big problem especially in the first races, then he had a good race in Jerez, where Ducati has always struggled in the past He would make progress from there, but it was not possible, there were wet and dry races and therefore it was not possible to be consistent, so his confidence did not increase. "

Aero paneling is the ultimate advance
In the second half of the season, Lorenzo still mixed regularly in the top flight. His speed and his consistency were better. "Only after the summer break did we make it with the new disguise, to give him a better feeling", Pirro calls the decisive step. With the new Aero fairing Lorenzo has a better feel for the front wheel. "I've always thought he would feel good with this disguise," said Pirro. "After the summer break, he was consistently in the lead group."

Andrea Dovizioso was responsible for the big Ducati successes. Pirro came just like Dovizioso in autumn 2012 to the Italian team. Together they have made the bike competitive by hard work. Therefore, the successes are also a great pleasure for Pirro. "I want to congratulate Dovi on his season, he was great, his duel with Marc was a relief to me because I worked very hard with him."

As a watershed, Pirro sees the spring: "After the Barcelona test, we found some solutions that strengthened his confidence, which was an important step, and I think his victory in Mugello has changed his season." but he believed in the chance to win and it was crucial for us. " Pirro himself was allowed to complete three wildcard appearances in 2017. Fifth place in Misano was his best result.

Yes, it looked like he was getting the hang of it at the end of the season. I think next year he will be a front runner provided the tyre formula isn't changed too much.

Cheers

Notec, lmao. He does seem to be polarizing.

Cosmik, I agree. He looked good. Agree about the tires, they need to get some consistency with their tires.
