Good to see Lorenzo riding well but I won't get too excited until I see how he does on full race distance.
Thanks from Speedhaus

Yeah, testing times mean very little. JLo did well last year during testing and performed only average dueing the season. Rossi never rides for times during testing and uses this time solely for data.

Seeing George feeling comfortable on the bike is a good indicator though. He also mentioned that he made a mistake during that record lap. That easily cost him a few tenths. From what Petrux and J Lo said, I understand that the bike is more forgiving and easier to ride

from a german website, google translate:
Jorge Lorenzo put his yesterday's challenge on Tuesday into action. The Mallorcan set a new unofficial course record with a fabulous lap time of 1: 58.830 minutes. So far, this Marc Marquez, placed in the tests 2015 held. Lorenzo put himself clearly at the top of the overall standings. Dani Pedrosa was missing 0.179 seconds on the third day of testing. The competition is forewarned and impressed at the same time. "The lap is the consequence of having a good bike, feeling well and in shape", beamed Lorenzo in his media round on Tuesday night in Malaysia. The Spaniard was about four tenths of a second faster than Pedrosa's pole time from the previous year (1: 59,212 minutes) and about eight tenths of a second faster than his own qualifying time in 2017. He confirmed his statements from the weekend that the GP18 is his Driving style much more contrary. However, he also commented to GPOne: "That was not a perfect round, but it was good." "Jorge did a great job, he will definitely be competitive. Also because currently the Ducati is possibly the best bike ", commented Rossi the fabulous time of his former teammate. His best lap time in the test was half a second slower. The Italian is convinced that the factory bikes in Longrun are even closer together. "It would be like in the Moto3", tomorrow should be a race, said the "Doctor". World Champion Marc Marquez, who also missed half a second on record time, was relaxed. "We know how strong Jorge and the Ducati are in Sepang. Many drivers are fast on this track, in fact we come to Malaysia every year and are amazed: 'Oh, so many riders are fast'. To be honest, it's important to create the right foundation for the first Grand Prix in Qatar and the remaining races in the calendar, "the defending champion put his focus on the racing space. Honda brand colleague Cal Crutchlow even believes that Lorenzo could have done even faster: "It was certainly possible to drive even faster because he thought he had made a mistake. I also made some mistakes on my fastest lap. "The LCR rider was amused by the excitement surrounding the record time. "He only undercut the record. But you have to congratulate him. He has changed for the Ducati and done an incredible job. That's Jorge. We know how strong he is. "Also in the KTM camp the Lorenzo round did not go unnoticed. Bradley Smith is not surprised: "All lap times at 1:59 minutes are very good, a 58 has raised the bar yet again. But we already saw a good performance of Ducati in the World Championship last year, so that's no surprise at all. They have done a great job and now we have to catch up. "The best KTM was 1.4 seconds behind the Ducati record.

also, Petrux stated that the GP 18 is "easier to ride" and more forgiving, it doesn't need to be ridden that precisely...
