Penguin Road Racing School

Hello there,

I was wondering how many of my fellow Panigale owners ride with Penguin?
I attend a lot of their events with Eric Wood.

I did the NE ducati revs event weekend before last, had a great time. First time riding with penguin, Eric is a wealth of knowledge. Seemed to be well organized and more structured then most track days, def a riding school. I wish they did more at NYST.

Hey Karl, I think you are also on the 959 Forum. You were on a white 959 with a very nice Akra system on it?
It's Tom with the FE and red 959.

Eric is great, I have been running with his classes for 5 years now. He really knows his stuff. If you ever want to come join us let me know. I can get you a decent discount. We have a 2 day event coming up at a track in Canaan next weekend. I am attending Loudon Motor Speedway tomorrow. We are also going to be at Thompson Raceway Sept 17th. I am hanging around CT on the 18th to attend the track day there on the 19th with Fishtail riding school. CT shouldn't be too far from you.

Oh hey Tom! I would love to come up to some of those but my work schedule is pretty hectic and getting up there will be super difficult. I will try to plan some out for next season. It would be great if Eric would do a couple more events at NYST through out the year. I am going to convert my bike to track only this winter and really get a lot of time in next summer.

I rode with them at Ducati Revs Miami last December. I had a good time but it felt like more of a trackday to me than a school. They had some classroom stuff but not much on track training. But non the less was a great group of guys.

That's awesome that you are converting the bike over to all track. I have been lucky enough to run a lot of track days this year. If I don't get rained out I will have 19 this season. Eric specifically teaches Penguin as he is the CEO. I do know he will be back to NYST next season for another Ducati Revs Day. Hope to see you soon. If you decide to head up let me know!
Thanks from KarlKani

Was it homestead? I know Eric went down last year, not sure if he did the instructing or not.

Yes it was Homestead. I think it might have been over booked or they didn't have enough coaches one. I still had a great time, just think the California Superbike School was more structured.

My experience is the total opposite, way more structured then your typical track day. Might have just been because it wasn't home turf

I have to agree. This years Ducati Revs was a shit show. The early morning drills were poorly run, the coaches weren't even on the track and they kept the expert group waiting for 15 minutes in the blistering sun on the grid, only to let us out for 2 laps and bring us in.
That said, the event went much better Sunday afternoon and Monday all day.
As for Eric, he is an amazing teacher. Probably the one guy that teaches in a way that even my brain can easily grasp. His track walk was worth its weight in gold and his lines are to be taken seriously, especially if you ride expert.
As for Cali SS, they have been the most organized and directing school I have ever been to. I just can't learn their methods. Not that it's bad, just maybe a little different at times than what others teach and what I respond to. But hey, I'm just another chucklehead out there having fun. Do whatever works.
Thanks from Mrdcook2, 1299rFE and KarlKani
