Carlin Dunne Pikes Peak

I wanted to take a moment and recognize the loss of a fellow motorcyclist community member. For those who want to read more about the Pikes Peak tragic accident here is an article.

I Ride: Some pretty amazing Ducatis
It is incredibly sad. I was following his video journals all week and was even thinking of heading down to Colorado Springs to help with event set up and watch the action.

I went on our local club ride and could see Pikes Peak at times and was wondering when he would be going and figured I would see the results when I got back in the afternoon. Needless to say, the headline that I did see was an absolute shock. I really don't know what to say. It's just incredibly sad.

By my math, I think that he would have crossed with a 9:31 and I think that would have been an epic record that would have made him and his whole support team (and us, too), very proud.
Thanks from Ryfly05 and 007

Its a different race now that the surface is paved. It was once a slower yet equally challenging dirt surface. Now its a paved surface that is 14,000 feet up and sees massive temperature swings and zero maintenance. Had he set the record the likely hood of it being broken diminished with every year as the surface would degrade. Those who race the Isle of Man or Pikes peak are not stupid or reckless. They may be chasing a dream that puts strain on the hearts of loved ones but would you clip the wings of a bird because you do not want it to fall? Rest in peace. No one lives forever so make the years you do something to remember.

Very sad indeed. I was listening to the live broadcast at the time and excited for him to set a well deserved new record. Praying for his friends and family. We lost a great human being. Rest In Peace, Carlin.

Carlin was a good friend of mine and well liked by everyone. Carlin was a great person in every aspect of life. He convinced me to switch over to the 1199 Panigale back in 2012. He died doing something he loved doing.

RIP Carlin you will be missed.

I didnt know he was a member here... A tragic loss
for the motorcycling community and he seemed like a real nice guy to boot.

I was catching up on his racing history on youtube recently. Such an accomplished racer and a very humble human being.

From what i read, it happend 400 odd metres from the finish line and that he was well on his way to beating the record...

He will be greatly missed.

I was watching all the videos in anticipation of a new course record with the new street fighter V4. I started noticing sad symbols and found the news articles. He seemed like a very honest and open person with a warm heart.
