The 2106 R1 must be insane. Is it electrical? Nuclear? Hydrogen?

You are the first person I have ever seen compliment the R1's brakes. By all accounts, they suck...and are the biggest weakness on the whole bike.

I Ride: 1299 Base
Having owned all three, 1199R, R1M, and now a 1299 my thoughts.

Out of the box I was pulling laps just as fast as I was on my 1199R. The brakes seemed okay until yoU did several laps of late braking and then they literally became non existent, like as if th oil pissed out. Once they cooled it seemed like they came back.

The gearbox shifting, ( to me) was a lot nicer on the Paniagle and Ducati gearboxes have always been bulletproof in my experience. In the end I got rid of mine cause I hated the way Yamaha handled their recalls and i started racing an 899 which made me more of a Paniagle lover. I just didn't gel with the R1, but I didn't give it enough of a chance.

There are no real bad bikes anymore, it's just experience and preference. The price Delta for the bike, maintenance, and aftermarket goodies makes the R1 an awesome choice.

The 1299 to me is now king of the heap. I'll probably never switch to another bike....until Ducati puts out a V4

Mike,

Could could have just taken the 1199 to Fordam Rd, in the Bronx, parked it, walked th campus there for a couple of hours and Wala! Insurance would have done the rest
