1199S vs. KTM 1290 Super Duke

Had a chance to play on the track with a racer dude on his KTM 1290 Super Duke in the weekend.
He is curious on how the two bikes pull against each other.
Much fun were had!

My conclusion is that Panigale matches the Duke's low-mid pull, but it keeps pulling past 160-180 kph where the Duke's losing steam.

But around the track both bikes are just as good and as quick. Partly because the Duke guy has much more skill than me.

More fun evidence:

I had a 1290 Superduke and now have a 1198 Superbike. The Duke had lots more torque on the bottom, right off idle. The Duke was fast 0-100 mph. My 1198 will kill the Duke in overall speed. I feel great on the Ducati, it is my style. I loved my Duke but just felt weird riding it, I guess the naked bike just doesn't do it for me.

I Ride: A snotty, noisy, ill tempered bag of arseholes 1199...but god I love it!
I'm the same.... I had a 1290r before this 1199 and as awesome as the superduke was (and 10 times more practical for my use) it just didn't do it for me like the panigale does. Build quality of the Ducati is miles ahead also even though the pricing between the 2 bikes is reasonably close. The superduke is a fun bike though and it actually attracted more attention than my 1199 does, maybe cause they are still quite rare over here.... but I get so much more satisfaction owning the ducati. If I could afford to own both I definitely would though

I think you sell yourself short Marmoot, that dash looked it needed a soundtrack from a 70's disco night, revs up into redline with traction control looking like a strobe light, all you need is a mirror ball and some flared leathers and you're good for a night out.

I'm sure it's a great bike but does absolutely nothing for me in the aesthetics dept - I'd go so far as to say ugly

Ah, right, I see......don't discount the flared leathers though, could be a good look.

Cheers

Much more skill than you huh? Doesn't look like you're much of a slouch though.

Were you intentionally riding with a slower group to look faster or were those guys just reallllly slow compared to you two? The guys yall were passin up looked like first timers or somethin.
