Cali - One big loop. Upcoming Trip

Hey guys

My ongoing love affair with California sends me back there this year for a trip with 2 mates. We are hiring Pani's and will head from LA, JT, LV, Mammoth Lakes, Laguna Seca, Carmel, Big Sur, SB, PCH Malibu and finally back to Santa Monica.

This is over the course of 5 days and I intend to document with pics and videos but wondered if anyone has done a similar trip and has any recommendations? or MUST DO roads?

Cheers
Thanks from Macattack

woo. good question. I will have to think about this one and get back to you. What date are you guys coming? Bay Area Ducati Club do many events as well. So if the date line up to something that lines up with something going on, you can come by too which will be cool.

I am from Monterey, very close to Laguna Seca.

Wolf,

I used to live in California and consider it a second home (looking at getting a place there).

Would love to know more about your trip - perhaps even join you?

If you can make up to north, this below is worth while.

Twisty Road - Next 140 miles!!! (California Route 36) | California Motorcycle Roads and Rides | MotorcycleRoads.com

Use this road to come up to Monterey - Laguna Seca.
Pacific Coast Cruise; Hwy 1 | California Motorcycle Roads and Rides | MotorcycleRoads.com

Of course you probably know about the crest
Angeles Crest Highway | California Motorcycle Roads and Rides | MotorcycleRoads.com

All of these are good and I would definitely add Highway 33 very technical ride to 166 and head up North to Hwy 1 to Big Sur. HWY 33 has lots of turns, tight, double apex, decreasing radius, fast sweepers up and downhill. You have to be on your "A" game if you ride it spirited. This is where I do majority of spirited riding.

Any canyon around Malibu like Mulholland Drive, Decker Canyon, Encinal are all great too.

Have Fun!

Sounds amazing! Me and my friend went last spring SF-LA-Vegas-SF and it was amazing!

Did you find a place to rent Ducatis in California? I'd love to find a place to rent a Panigale.

I look forward to hearing more about your trip.

I was there on an overseas assignment in CA working for a very large multi-national. Lived and worked in many other countries but apart from Sydney, i've never found anywhere like CA. One of my few regrets is not permanently moving to CA.

PM me if you want to go for a ride in Sydney.

But your CA trip sounds amazing. Would definitely like to join if I can.
