I know this topic gets flogged more than a horse at the Melbourne cup but those who have owned an 1199 and a V4 how does the heat compare, I have owned an 1199 with Termi slipons and never really had any issues with heat at all, not any worth complaining about. Hiws the V4 (compared to the 1199?)

G'day mate,
Let me the first to chime in, the heat on my V4S is a non issue compared to the 1299S I traded. The rear cylinders shut down at lights when stopped. The heat from this bike is no issue at all, at least in my opinion.

Thanks for the input superquadro, as mentioned I never had issues with the 1199, so obviously I shouldn't have any worries with the V4 just more curious if people have comparisons with stock exhausts and slipons, I have a V4S streefighter on order and it looks as if the open style fairing may assist even more with heat escape from the bike.

I've never ridden a 1199 or 1299 to compare to the V4, but all I'm going to say is that this bike runs HOT! I would dread pulling up to a set of lights or bumper to bumper traffic. In saying that, I wouldn't let it stop me from buying a V4, as all of the 1000cc super bikes these days run extremely hot and are made to be going fast on a race track with full leathers.

Ive owned the 1199, 1299S, Panigale R and the V4S runs way cooler its no comparison IMO. It ran hot until engine brake in 1500 miles but now it runs nice only mod i did was put thermotec tape under the seat on the V4.
The 1x99 series I had to ceramic coat the headers, carbon exhaust heat sheild, carbon frame covers, carbon head sheilds, thermotec tape under the seat and still wear heat out base layer to tame the heat in Socal 90 to 104 degrees.

The V4S is much cooler than the 1199S for sure. They both throw a ton of heat but the 1199 required me to apply thermal barrier to the pipes and wrap them as well. I also put in water wetter to reduce engine temps too.

For the V4S didn't have the "felt" heat like on the 1199 in my opinion.

Riding v4r and 1199 back-to-back over 2 hot summer Sydney days on the same route, the 1199 was far hotter.

I dont know if the gills on the new style fairings help with heat dissipation over the old v4 style fairing. Oddly, the heat in the v4r is only near the left knee
