Hello

Noticed today after my first proper ride with the Termi system that there is quite a bit of movement in the carbon heat-shield on the right side. All the bolts are tight. Rattles like crazy while riding.

This is on my 2014 1199 R So I assume its a new version. Anyone else having this issue?

Thanks,

no rattling on my '13

Ill take mine back to the dealer. There is a lot of movement forwards and backwards. seems just the one bole on the right holding it in place and I can actually see is move around the bolt if I move it by hand.

Mine is too seems normal to me

I have 4,500 miles on my s with the standard (none carbon fiber) upgraded heat shield. It rattles now, it didn't before. I checked 4 other 1199's while at the dealer to compare, those didn't hardly move. Mine is sloppy. It seems that the rubber cushions have baked to death due to exposure to exhaust heat. It's getting replaced under warranty. I hope they come up with a fix besides replacing it till there is no warranty.

I did 9000km on my S of which 2000 was with the new style heat shield - no issues there. The R has the carbon one that ships with the 2014 Termi, first ride with it and I noticed it rattles. Bad design I'd say. Also ugly as hell. Ill look at an after market one later.

I've had the washers replaced twice so far

Fisher, was it just the washers on the right-side? by the hex key bolt that holds the heat shield in place?

I had a look at that area and the bolt is grabbing the thread fine but there seems to me nothing clamping the carbon cover down - hence the movement.

Yeah I did - also tried different washers. Bolts are tights - the carbon cover moves, but the metal cover under the carbon is tight.

Almost as it the carbon is just a floating wrap. I don't think its mechanically of any concern - just a annoying rattling issue when riding.

I actually lost the bolt since the dealership did not torque it properly when they installed the Termis. I picked up a new one for free which included a plastic washer. No rattling here.
I can give you the part number of the kit if you need it.

Thanks, I have the bolts, a metal washer and a plastic one - the metal and plastic ones fit into one another (metal ones has a lip and plastic one fits over it. then the bolt goes through those into the thread.
