I've had a '13 1199 base model for the last 4 years. I sold it a couple months ago and now I'm looking for a replacement. Trying to decide between a 2012 Tricolore with 5900 miles or a brand new s1k. The duc wins in the looks department by a landslide. The BMW is brand new with a warranty. Both are almost identical prices. But as far as an overall bike that sees street duty only, what's everyone opinions?

Based on what you said and in my opinion, if those two were my "only" choices to choose from...I'll pick BMW.

How was your experience with the 13 base?

Which one do you "ReeeaLLy want?

1299/S/PaniR

Sorry, these weren't in the multiple choice answers.

So between the two original choices, Tri=pretty, BMW=weird, Tri comes standard with heated seat, BMW comes with heated grips.

Do you speak German or Italian?

My experiences were good with my base. Typical Ducati quirks, but I loved the bike.

1299 is out. I do not want a solid red bike.

I can't stand the bmw for one reason only.... ridiculous headlights. That said, I wouldn't buy the same bike again after having sold one before, 1199 or 1299. To me, 1199 and 1299 are exactly the same bike since all I care about is looks. Dont care about the extra cc, tad bit more torque or any advancements in electronic aids. Given your two options, I'd say bmw since it is brand new n full warranty. Plus, it's a different bike for you. You've already experienced the Panigale.

I'd go for S1000rr and if you don't like it you can always sell it and buy Panigale - I went this way. Had Ducati, sold it and got S1000rr,sold it and got finally 1299S.

Not on your list but there are quite a few Aprilia RSV4 RF's deeply discounted for around $16k.....that is if you want something different but exotic.

I sold my 13 1199S and picked up a discounted 16 RF. I'm very happy with the switch. Worth looking into imo.

to spend that type of money on a 5 year old bike is nuts. further if its a 12 bike and its the same price as the bmw (loaded its about 18k) you are getting robbed for a tricolore.

you can get a 12s for about 12k and buy new fairings for a couple of bucks or have them painted.

if you are paying 18k for a 2012 ducati s (thats what a tri is An s with a paint job) you are out of your mind

also if you are paying 18k for the bmw you can get a leftover 1299 for same price. i just dont understand your thought process. i do understand not wanting red though.

your vehicle list looks like you're more into bikes with character.

[and i say that as a german - the bimmer is a fantastic bike - and that's it]

seriously, have a look at gunny's TRI.

if i wouldn't have too many bikes already, i'd already have it in my garage.

How did you your 1199 base model? It will not be a huge difference comparing with a tricolore other than the look.. riding experience will be pretty much the same on the streets..
Having the Panigale before I would try the BMW I think the new one looks very nice.. much better than the old one and has some nice features.. if you don't like you can always buy a new Panigale which should come out in few years.
Did you test ride the BMW?
Maybe you take out your doubts once you test it.

I wasn't talking about a particular bike at all. What I am talking about is a year and a worth. People of course want the best price for their items for sale however the market doesn't always dictate that. Many bikes have lots of aftermarket parts on them. Guess what that's worth. 0 it's like rims on a car it doesn't increase the value one bit
