1299 Big Bore Kit

I am not going to say what dealer but as soon as they get the 1299s in they will be working on a big bore kit......once everything is legit....ill pass the news on to everyone....but this dealer is known for kits.....so everyone complaining can chill out lol

More bore is NOT what these engine's need, if they get it with stroke these things will pull harder from the bottom to the top. Problem is getting displacement with bore is always cheaper than a new rotating assembly, and that is what it will take.

1299 kit update....spoke to the dealership owner n he is thinking it should be an easy creation now that he knows what is needed.....he is just trying to get price estimate now....I also told him people on here are interested......he said it would put out more power than factory set up of course....he is thinking possibly 210-215 (crank) out of the kit with proper tuning....but dont kill me on the hp estimate....im jus goin off of what i was told....I should have more info very soon

Would this include new cylinder/heads, or just the pistons?

i think it includes cylinders......dont quote me tho....we spoke for 30 mins....cant remember eveything

Then of course, do they do an exchange/core, etc. I realize you don't know much, but just throwing things out there that we would like to know. Then of course, a tune kit :)

Please excuse my ignorance, so this is a big bore kit to get the 1199 on parity with the new 1299 spec?

I had asked around and here is what I heard:

"How much can the 1199's liners safely be bored?

I asked because, did Ducati bore out the 1199's cylinder liners 4 mm to get to the 116 mm or did they swap out the liners and or remake this entire 1299 (1285) engine?

Hopefully, Ducati made it easy on us all! I would be more than happy to bore my 1199's liners 4 mm over and have some (2-ring, higher compression) 4 mm over sized pistons made up for me! It can be done much cheaper than buying a new 1299."

Here is the possible bad news to my above questions from a Ducati source.

I was told:

"As far as I know, the cylinder and crankcase design was changed.... so it is not an easy up grade. The larger bore liner will not fit in to the 1199 cylinder/crank cases.

No boring out the liner, as they are so thin...3 mm...just not enough wall thickness to do any boring."

I thought I would pass on what I heard. So if he is correct, then crank case boring and cylinders are both needed.

I appreciate the info. I am definetly not an expert. However, the person I am talking to has been doing kits for MV n Ducati for over 20 years. I was also told the work will be warrantied. So I have no worries at all.

$$$$$$$ wise it is most likely more productive just upgrading the bike .
