Not completely done yet, but for sure, it's going to be loud again and those f&@cking cats are finally out... Covers are on order. Hex and diamond, no opening.

To the welder next week and then the finishing...

Comparison will have to be on my 1199, stock vs cored since I don't have access to a 1299.

Cheers!

Hey...is louder faster? Or does it just seem faster LOL? :D

any different between the 1199 and 1299 that you come across?
thanks

here's a list"

- bigger diameters overall, except the outlet
- they really simplified the outer shell
- the cats are fixed differently now, even shittier to get out
- general flow structure is the same
- the cans are made by remus
- there is no way to open them in a hidden spot, so at least one cross-weld will go around the outer visible part
- they appear to be lighter (let me put them on a scale for comparo tonight)

since my 1199 is half naked right now anyway, i will fit the 1299 headers and pipe and get to a dyno, as soon as i find the time (biggest problem)

Will you be offering this service to us 1299 guys that you have for the 1199?

sure will.

but only when I'm satisfied with the outcome.

the hurdle is the fact that there are no sleeves any more to cover the welds now.
my welder is a nice guy, but his core business is structural stuff, 20 gauge stainless is not his sweetspot. however, i will let the angle grinder (eek) do the rest.

the wife was really hoping i would quit doing this since the 12 came out, but hey, gotta pay to play...

Test screen fitted

Have the hex and diamond on order now, no hole, no logo

awesome, i am interested and would like to have this done this winter
just cat delete for improving air flow, but would like to leave the silencers in place in respect to the neighbor

Less than 2 weeks. Biggest problem is the outcome of the surface after all this work.

I will have to see what I can come up with

Follow up

Soooo...

I cut up the cans, got the cats out , did my magic on the pipes internals...
Got them welded and they look pretty bad. As in- nobody with a new 20something K bike would put on there. The single shell outside requires either really skilled and time consuming welding or a cover.

Or- as a route that one gentleman is going right now- leaving the cats in and just taking care of the outlets, the db-killer and the screen covers.

Phil, maybe seeing what it would take to modify an 1199 can for a 1299? I know the angle is different, would it be easier to mod that then deal with the cans of the 1299? Lots and Lots of OEM 1199 cans out there, just a thought.
