I’m sure it’s on the original engine. These things will last forever if they’re properly maintained. Service intervals doubled and reliability improved dramatically once the Germans took over. They revamped the factory and changed the entire assembly line process. One tech is assigned to each vin. He blesses off on the bike during each phase. They keep track of every catastrophic failure. If it happened on that tech’s bike and it’s deemed the factory’s fault, he goes to remedial training. Amazingly enough, reliability increased ten fold once this policy was put into place.

I would also say its original.

Amazing, I wasn't aware of the Germans/revamped factory. So nice to see build quality reliability with how insane these bikes are.

great info! which bikes kicked off the new manufacturing process?

We just had a 1299 guy looking for a new engine on here a week or 2 ago.
Do u really think all it takes is routine maintenance at Ducati’s specified interval to keep these bikes fresh beyond 50K miles. I like to cut those intervals in half for fluid renewal but even so in the back of my mind I’m thinking “I hope I sell this thing before the engine fails”

There was a girl on one of the forums with an 899 that had over 80k miles on her bike (original motor). Hoping mine will last for a very long time! Sadly my last ducati only made it to 5k before spinning a bearing, but I was abusing it at the track so not necessarily the bikes fault.

Most sport bikes get crashed and destroyed long before they reach those kind of miles. That’s why you never really see many of the older Gixxers and such.

Over 17000 mi on mine and counting both tracks and streets. had 15K maint done last summer and had to adjust rear exhaust cylinder shim and that was it. Front forks dust seals/seals and oil changed, new front brakes pads, Went through 9 sets of tires, 3 wind screens, 2 rear mud guard (due to melting), one set of mirrors and left side fairings due to low side and pretty much stock

what did the 15K desmo service cost? I was quoted $2,300 if they adjust valves

Our local Duc mechanic is very reasonable if u know ur stuffs when u tell them what to check or need replacements. But that depends on the shop (mechanic). . i suggested to check what very needed to be check like both intake/exhausted valves clearances(replaced shims if out of spec), spark plugs(i gave him my x2 spark plugs), cooling systems and that was it. i believed i paid around 1100. FYI, intake shim considerable cost more than the exhaust one

Are these high mileage bikes worth considering? Seems tough to trade off vs. spending a little more to get one with much less mileage
