Hi Guys I'm new here, had my 1299 for a month now and done about 500km with it, I have had the bottom radiator damaged by stones I have now ordered a radiator grill from Ducati SA, I was wondering if bikes supplied in other parts of the world came with it as standard?
It seems that this rad is easy damaged because I have been riding on reasonably good roads and am annoyed that a protective grill is not std supply?

Has any one fitted it? The quote to have it fitted is almost as bad as the price of the girl itself and I was wondering if it's a quick diy job?

If it is just the lower rad guard then it should take less than 5 minutes. Very easy to do yourself.

The upper rad guard is a bit more tricky, still better doing it yourself, but you have to slide the upper in from the left, as stood in front of the bike looking at the radiator, and engage the guard across on the right, once in there should be enough room to get the left hand edge past the fairing. It is then just 2 bolts. It took me 20 mins, 15 of them were working out how to get the guard past the fairing.

Depends which guards you opt for, some are labour intensive, others much simpler.

A fair few options out there but for style, ease of fitting and price you can't go far wrong with Evotech guards. Shouldn't take more than 10 mins to fit both.

I have done more than 24 000 km's and my radiators are still ok sans guards. The 1199's cooling is already marginal on the road (not the track perhaps) and the radiator guard blocks some valuable air flow in my opinion. I am sure the same would stand true for the 1299.

I'd say it's well worth having, but no, it doesn't normally come as standard.

I went for the DP version which they installed on my first service for free. But I have installed one before which was more than your 10 minute job, R&G. It was held in place with the main securing bolts for the radiator itself. So I guess it does depend on which brand you buy, I've seen others just held on with zip-ties, but they're adequate.

Better to have one, than shaking your head looking at a puddle :)

I didn't see any change in temps after I fitted guards to my (new) radiators - they still allow plenty of air flow and much better using the guards than ending up with a bunch of bent fins and relatively poor heat dissipation

They don't come fitted as standard . I fitted R&G top and lower radiator guards to my 899 and removed them and fitted them to my 1299 . They are are easy fit and my opinion a must have
