Anyone else had this happen? My rear brakes seized today, even caught fire :( Been away for a month. First ride when I got home, my rear brake clamped on and poured smoke. When I stopped, it almost instantly caught fire with a pop sound and burnt until either the caliper piston seals or the brake line failed and it relieved the pressure.. Brake fluid burns vivid green btw...

Anyone else had something similar happen?

When the bike first came out there were a few that accidentally kept a toe on the lever and did just what your talking about

have any adjustments been made to the rear brake? rear sets added?

These bikes like a bit of play in the rear brake lever.

something everyone should know - a little play in both front and rear brake levers when a bike is cold is not only normal, it is absolutely necessary. Hydraulic fluid expands when it warms up, taking up the play. If there is no play when a bike is cold, it will start to engage the brakes as it warms up.

I discovered this the hard way, when I first started messing around with adjusting brake levers. I'm lucky I didn't kill myself as my front brakes locked up....

This post reminds me of the one a few years ago of the guy who posted a pic of his rear brake and disc which was damaged beyond repair. When we (forum members) took a close look at the photos we could see there was no material left on one side of his brake pads so he was braking with metal.

Not saying this is the case with you Mr TurboLag. Yours I am sure is something different.

Letting the pads get down to metal is just too stupid for words.

Brake pads had plenty left, 2-3 mm end play in the master cylinder :( Always riding with my toe balls on the pegs..

small rock or something caught in lever...that has happened to me in the past

Just got off the phone with the dealer, getting everything on warranty :) Very happy with my dealer at the moment :)
