Forum members,

I am the 2nd owner of my 1299. The original owner had the rear ride height slammed to the ground (3+ inches) cause he was short and dumb.
bike doesn’t like to turn in when it’s squatting, naturally.
How many threads do I need inside this lowering link nut to be safe from it falling apart on me

i dont know.
the thread does not look very fine, i dont like it. on the other hand it is a standard piece, easy to replace. i would say same length as diameter is save.
find the manufacurer and ask them.
maybe they have different center pieces.

I’m just dropping this pos off at the dealer and letting them get it back to OEM. The tripple was slid down the fork a little too. Maybe I’ll drop it off and never pick it up. They can bring me a new V4

people do silly things instead of buying something that fits.

i would suspect the might car mods 'chopped' threads to lower more than the turnbuckle allowed.......and some ill-handling geometry to boot. general rule is 9 turns with threaded alloys.

it's like gramps filed down the flats on some metric stuff so it takes three sizes of SAE wrenches to turn a nut.....been there.

If you want the oem length, I might consider giving you mine if you give me the one you have. Lol

That is adjustable. Adjust it back to the stock length and adjust your shock to stock length and you should be fine.

U don’t want this, it’s soft metal and malled from improper tools. Look at CNC racing, they’ve got what you need!

And yeah @Paul G it handled worse than a chopper. Just glad to get to the bottom of it... but still trying to pay it off and trade it in on a V4R

Lol,

I said I might, and it did look a little beat up. But the OP simply needs to raise the rear to stock height. The 1299 does slow down turn in for every mm of reduced swing arm angle.

Anyway, these links are way too damn expensive.

My rear hugger is melted to .... from lowering it and it totally ruined handling. And yeah everything on these bikes is $$,$$$$. I need to take out a 3rd mortgage

Hey man I may have an extra linkage for you. Let me look though my vast stock of OEM stuff off my race bike. PM me if you would like it.

That rod on your bike is not stock and I would not trust it. That is a MAJOR part that you do not want to fail. The only reason I have an extra is that I have the Ducati Corse WSBK rod on my race bike.

Found it!!!

That’s exactly what I need. I can’t wait to get this bike back to OEM. I don’t trust the lowering piece. It would be very bad news if that brakes but at least my insurance is maxed out and stacked

Defo take Blade Runner up on that if the dealer has not already got the bike. You may need an abba stand or similar (rod thru swing arm pivot, and on axle stands, maybe?) to support the back end. Then drop the forks back to where they should be. The 1299 is quite a machine when working as she should, you may not want that V4!

Thank you all! Yeah the dealer is going to get it all squared away for me. The tripple clamp is slid down the forks a bit and she’s pulling left a bit.
I’ve come this far with it, I’m going to continue getting it perfect and enjoy it. It’ll be ready for 7,500 miles service soon at this rate.
