Not sure but I can tell you the

1199 SL:

0-60 = 3.14 s
0-100 = 5.69 s
Top speed = 191 mph
1/4 mile = 9.91 s

V4:

0-60 = 3.28 s
0-100 = 6.30 s
Top speed = 191 mph
1/4 mile = 10.84 s

With that, just my opinion, your 1299 SL will win

I suspect that lap times would be close but the V4 could eek out a better lap time and especially over race distance. I'm sure the 1299 after a day at the track, feels like you had a near death sexual experience with a angry stripper. The V4 you probably feel much more composed after a day at the track, like you shagged your secretary, and made out home for dinner.

Just my thoughts. Having only test rode a V4S I got the feeling that it's strong point is making you faster, safer, while looking good and being energy efficient on the rider.

The other feeling I got was that I needed one.

CarWow... did a V4S vs. BMW Sedan.....V4S: 10.1 sec. Similar to the video Mutt got his SL times from (Cycle World vs
P1 and 918). Watched Ricky Gadson pull 9.8's easily all day on a student's bike at one of his dragrace schools. Didn't have time to mess around with all the rider aids and did 3 runs and he bet with some changes and more time on the bike he could knock off another half-second easily. V4 has more potential than V-Twin. My bet is the top flight V4 (R and SL versions) will walk all over it's predecessor. But I am sure YouTube will soon be littered with V4 vs.1299 "smackdowns."

These numbers would imply a quarter mile race would not even be close. Not sure I'm buying that.

Wow the 1199SL is no joke!

The OP is comparing two very different bikes. I wouldn't expect an S model to beat an SL, you're asking too much. The numbers are from drag stips, there power to weight ratio is a massive factor and the point is the SL is around as powerful but way lighter than the V4 so it will win.

A V4 SL however........ :D

A guy I know that ride's COTA exclusively owns both an 1199SL and 1299SL. He's a very quick level 3 rider (PB of 2:19 there with the 1299SL). He jumped on a stock V4S and was faster right out of the box. He said neither of his SL's could keep up with the V4 to include a straight line.

I think you mean a 2:19 at COTA.
