So you can live with it huh? If it dies on you in the middle of traffic some day at the wrong time and place you might not LIVE at all!
Get ready another rant!!!
These are EXPENSIVE top of the line motorcycles WE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO "LIVE WITH IT" The Ducati factory
knows about this issue and does NOTHING to fix it. This will be my first and LAST Ducati... It simply isn't worth all the ......... Sure it is a Beautiful exotic bike but it's just not worth the money when you have to put up will all it's problems..
There are other bikes out there that will outrun it and outlast it (without near the upkeep cost and problems) My friends that have new BMW's and new R1's are laughing at me for spending so much money and no being able to ride with them.. For what I have invested in this one bike I could have literally bought two new R1's!
I can't imaging what it would cost me to keep mine running if it didn't have a warranty.. Maybe the older less complex models were better but from what I have experienced with mine (and what I have read from others) with 1199 and 1299's there is absolutely NO excuse for ANYONE to have to worry about their bike dying on them while they are riding in traffic and having to push their bike to the side of the road!!!!!!
If it was an old BSA or Triumph from the 60's with LUCAS Electronics I could understand it, but this is a new 2015 $25K+ $$$ motorcycle. Ducati better get their .... together or they are going to have a bad rep like they used to regarding upkeep.. Word gets out quick nowadays with all the social media..
They advertise longer service intervals for valve changes however they do not tell you that if you are one of the unlucky ones like me ( and many others evidently) you will have your bike in the shop over and over all the time..
The dealer has been great and they have done all they can but evidently they don't really know how to fix it. All they can do at this point is start replacing components.. . I usually have to drop the bike off and then leave it there about a week until the "Factory Rep" makes his way back to them and looks at it again.. They have already switched out a brand new factory ECU, of cours e changed settings on the throttle bodies etc Tried to remap the ECU (which made the factory warranty null and void according to the factory rep) That is why the dealer had to pay $1500 for a new ECU.. STILL NO change.. It still has the throttle sticking in first gear and still dies on me..
Now they are taking a complete throttle body off a new bike and installing it on mine to see if that is it.. Of course the bike has been there in the dealership's shop since last Tuesday and they haven't finished it yet.. it is always on the back burner... (They got to get the new bikes they just sold ready to deliver first you know..)
Their mechanic does not want to see me come in anymore.. I am sure he is tired o screwing with it.
The day I picked it up from having the new ECU installed and it died on me in the middle of 70mph traffic going home.....**If you live in the Austin area and ride on HWY 35 during rush hour then you know how scary that is..
If I don't get my bike running correctly soon I am going to file a lawsuit under the lemon law and either get my money back or another bike.. My bike has spent more weekends in the shop than In my garage at home.. I purchased mine last April and the first day I rode it, it died on me leaving the dealership! I wasn't even a block away from the dealer and I had to coast over to the side of the road and restart it.
Even if I get it fixed I will not keep it past the warranty period I just do not have any confidence in it anymore.
Sorry to be such sour grapes but I am fed up... You out there that don't have problems are VERY lucky that you get to enjoy your bike..
