1299s shutting off?

Ducati Forum

Help Support Ducati Forum:

Mine is 3 months old and has done this half a dozen times. I pull clutch in to change down usually and engine cuts. It starts straight back up no problems. It's disconcerting, has about 1800 miles on since new.tech is aware has someone else with same prob , must get it looked at

yep we got the same problem on both bikes now ...

I have been riding my other Pani a lot prior to today because i knew i am about to lose my license for 6 months.

My other Pani is also doing this when the bike is really hot - we'd be riding and when using clutch to change gear the bikes would die completely (engine/electrical would all shut off while bike is still moving).

I am scared this could end up killing us one day :( I think we might have to get rid of our Ducati Panigale(s) ...

Oh I read in the owners manual that the blinker will turn itself off if you became distracted and left the blinker on by accident for a certain distance or time. Is this a hoax? In the 1299s owners manual ? Does anyone have any suggestions or thoughts of this actually working or how it works it appears I'm an ignorant man or this feature in the 1299s owners manual is a hoax? For whatever reason it appears to be hype and propaganda. Does anyone out there feel this is just a gimmick that really doesn't work and it's not worth mentioning in the owners manual? Again thanks in advance for everything

We own both standard 1299 and 1299s the blinkers never auto shut off when i left them on for more than 30 seconds :(

It should not happen. Mine is perfect.
Have not tested the blink thing. I remember the manual says something about the speed you are doing as well.... Will check.
Duchess, have you switched your engine output to the HIGH setting and drop the traction and wheely control settings, see if it makes a difference.

If anyone has been paying attention lately I have not posted in quite some time..

After over $33 K invested and close to two years or aggravation and countless times in the shop I just stopped riding mine No one can fix it and it is just flat out dangerous to ride... (never know when it will stall in the middle of the intersection or suddenly lose power and suddenly slow down in the middle of the freeway.
Bucks and kicks BADLY at any speed below 50 mph...no matter what gear I am in..

Absolutely no fun...Getting tired of looking at it in my garage...Absolutely the worst and the most expensive bike I have ever owned..

Had it in race setting but left everything as my dealer set it for me. Not sure why doing this would make a difference but will try it

This is very sad ! I have owned 4 Multistrada's , an 1199 and now have the 1299 abs and the icon Scrambler and they have been the most exciting bikes I have ever owned. Just wish you lived near me I would direct you to my tech he's awesome.
Hate it when things like this happen

Thanks I appreciate the offer If I am ever in the UK I will look you up. You are a very cool lady!!
For now I have just been stretched out beyond my pocket book (or patience) with this bike ..

I love the way it looks and handles but has been nothing but trouble
It will run fairly smooth sometimes intermittently ( by smooth I mean it doesn't act like it is going to die on me and doesn't buck and kick as much) but never really as well as the demonstrators or my friends 1299 I have ridden... Dealer cannot figure it out nd simply says the old "That is just the way it is" line.... I am going to sell it if possible and get a Japanese bike the new Kawasaki ZX10R and the 2017 Suzuki GSXR100R are looking good.

I have had it with "Exotic" bikes" To me "Exotic" means expensive to purchase Expensive to keep up and not dependable I just cant handle the uncertainty of not knowing when it is going to die on me while riding iT takes the fun out of it and the local dealer certainly won't take in on trade and give me even half of what I paid for it a little over a year ago....

Oh well Live and learn....

When it's happened to me it always while downshifting, usually from 2 to 1 @ reasonably low RPM's. It seems to be trying to autoblip as if I'm executing a quickshift down, even if I'm using the clutch. Once the autoblip is complete...that's when it seems to die.

I don't think the 1199 had a quickshift down/autoblip...correct?

Same as me
I may have said going from 3 rd to 2nd but thinking about it it's def 2-1

The blinker auto reset works! After a certain distance 120m or so after turning, the turn indicators will turn off. I tried it today...

As for engine stalling, it has happened to me also, so I have done two changes to my bike; swapped in a 14t front sprocket and changed fuel from 98 RON to 95 RON. So far after 40km it hasn't stalled but I will have put more mileage on before I can confirm if my changes have gone some way to fixing the stalling problem. At low speeds, now, the engine seem smoother and not spitting and surging like it used to. The 3rd change I want to do is to install Tuneboy to alter low speed fuelling, but I will do that probably next year...

200 miles on the Anniversario and it had shut down three times. One time the truck behind me almost rear ended me. It would had been his fault if happened, but I would had been hurt as well.

This is not OK to just to get "used" to it. I will v-log my trips from this point on and take it to the dealer. If they can't fix it, I need to claim lemon on this thing. I am not riding a "supposed" high end superbike knowing that the engine will shut off randomly.

Unacceptable.

this has also been happening to me was wandering wtf was going on 2015 1299S with only 80kms on it happened first set of lights out of the dealership lol.

Has happened quite a few times since now that im up to almost 1000kms.

Will ask them about it when I take it in for the 1st service.

always seems to happen at low speed / rpm when downshifting or coming to a stop.

So we have a pattern, and many of us experiencing it

Mine did it twice in 1600 km. Both times from 2nd into 1st at red light.

My dealership was very helpful :) I was told to take the R to the track and not through traffic
and to always give it a small rev when changing gear down to first.

They are super lean in low rom/low tps situations, and that will cause stalling. Gave it a bit more fuel in the relevant cells, hasn't stalled once in the last 10k miles...

My bike did the same stall thing 5-6 times under 1k miles on it. Always the worst time in traffic, almost just threw it on the ground and walked away. LOL

Since I put on the rapidbike unit, has not stalled at all. I'll go with too lean at idle area.
