Reading this thread gave me Ebola. I don't even know where to start.
First off, when it comes to comparing bikes, there has never been a more useless comparison than a street race or roll-on race. They prove absolutely nothing; WAY too many variables. Mods, bike age/condition, tire sizes, gearing (or gear selections), powerband utilization, fuel load, aerodynamics (rider size), throttle application, even air pressure in the tires can be a factor. I am not just talking about the OP, I mean in general. Every forum is full of street "races" and assumptions based upon the "results".
Secondly, Panigale slow? If you think the Panigale is slow, then you suck as a rider. I currently race a 1299S, and have previously raced a 1098S, R1 and an RSV4 (along with numerous MW bikes). There is nothing slow about the Panigale. Just because somebody pulls away from you leaving a red light, or your buddy beats you to Starbucks, you can't assume the bike is the problem or slow.
I have proven multiple times this year that the Panigale is plenty capable and just as fast, if not faster than any of the Jap bikes. We have some tracks with long straightaways and I am yet to be left behind by any of them (and I am 6'2", 215lbs).
If anyone has any complaints about the performance of Panigale, to address those complaints they need to begin by looking in the mirror.
