Help! New owner of a beautiful 94 SS. When turned on, I can't hear fuel pump turn on but bike starts and runs while idling. After 5 minutes riding, loses power and stops, stranding me. When I lifted tank, I saw the 4 wire electrical connector was pulled apart, I believe this is to fuel pump (?). I reconnected it but not sure if correct and still can't hear fuel pump when turn key on but it starts. Any thoughts? Can't ride worrying about being stranded.

I can't believe no one answered this person.

You have diagnosed the problem already by your explanation. Fuel Pump.

The bike may run okay on a full tank if the fuel gets passed the fuel pump by gravity. The carbs bowls are higher than the fuel in the tank once the tank gets to about 1/3 -1/4 full.

If the pump was disconnected then someone was just concerned to power it down if there the pump was seized.

Be interested if you fixed it?
