By June or July I may be buying and installing a pair of Brembo GP4RX brake calipers. I know that will have to upgrade my OE brake master cylinder with a 19RCS, 19x18 or 19x20. If I ordered the 19x18 or 19x20 master cylinder could I install it with my M50 calipers for now? Or would there be an issue of the new master cylinder not working properly with my M50 calipers

The ratio isn’t correct. Would it work? Sure. But your brakes are going to feel like wooden blocks.

Rogue let me ask you something. If you were changing your calipers would you also change out the rotors to brembo rotors? If not brembo what would you use?

Rogue can I get your feedback on the main differences between the 19x18 and 19x20 master cylinders? I did my research but it was rather confusing. Would you mind explaining the pros and cons of each of these?

Here's a good thread on the piston ratios: Panigale Brake Upgrades - BEWARE!

The debate between the two is personal preference. On the MC, the first number is the diameter of the cylinder, being 19 in this case. The second number is distance between the lever pivot point and the plunger. So in this case, 18mm vs 20mm. The 19x18 will have more feel but longer lever travel. Fast guys who like stiff brakes and suspension might find it too mushy. The 19x20 will have better braking power overall and less lever pull. The complaint here might be that the brakes are too "touchy". So again, it's all personal preference. The new Corsa Corta is unique in that it has the ability to switch between 16, 18, and 20. But honestly, if you're spending the money on the billett calipers then I would have a matching billet GP master cylinder as well.

As for the rotors, I would at least sand and hone them. This kind of goes back to the MC argument though. If you're dropping that kind of money on calipers then I'd complete the brake upgrade puzzle with better rotors as well. Brembo T-Drives or TK Dischi Evo's. I'm going off of Endodoc's recommendation and trying out the TK's. Then if you're doing all of that I would look into custom lines and bypassing the ABS. See how this turns into a slippery slope?

Agree , good write up. Just to add, ABS delete really simplifies and better lever feel , for track. I found the Z04 pads were a major braking power upgrade over anything , RCS etc. They are expensive , but actually wear much better than other pads ive used, (probably at expence of the rotors), but thats how it is.

Yes, you hit all the right topics!
I was guided the same way, and fall into believe some trends as well

Something to note, out of the box of these V4 I’m really impressed the feel. cant wait till I can tested on a point and shoot track.

if I had to do things all over again, I would change material property rather then spec of things. IMO.

love the z04, will put another set for sure! Interesting that when property changed, modulation also changed too! That was my experience on the z04, the feedback is awesome!
