2 Cylinder Shut Off

As most of us are aware, in between full clutch disengagement and biting point (friction zone), is a point where 2 cylinders will be shut off and turned on. Read that this was to manage heat.

I live in an area where there are multiple stop points to get from home to work. So I’ve got a few questions to ask.

1. I know they do this to reduce the heat. Is there any issue with the heat affecting the motorcycle in the first place during their R&D phase that they have to resort to this feature?

2. Do you prefer to keep all 4 cylinders running at the red light or just clutch in completely and shut off two cylinder. I personally prefer keeping all the 4 cylinders switched on because the sound they give out is amazing!

3. Will there be any issues from these turning on and turning off of cylinders?

4. Is it just for the Streetfighter v4 or do they have this for other models as well?

Thanks for your future replies!

It isn't to reduce heat in the motor, it is to reduce the heat that the rider feels. The motor would be fine on all 4 cylinders, it just cooks the rider's nuts.

No issues are gonna come from it, as it's only at idle and with a warm motor. It doesn't happen when the motor is cold, so there's no uneven heating going on.

I have a 2018 V4 and they put out the update to shut off the rear 2 cylinders at idle a handful of months after it came out, if I recall correctly.

It’s super smooth and with a good exhaust the transition sounds WILD

u know the new m4 is 48 volt and the alternator works as a motor to spin the engine at idle. A much better solution than auto stop / start

when the cylinders deactivate and deactivate it reminds me I’m on something very special

Does this "Rear cylinders turned off' feature works when I'm idling in neutral gear with the clutch fully disengaged at the stop lights?

If the engine is at temp, and the bike is idling for a certain amount of time in neutral or with clutch pulled in, cylinders will deactivate. You can hear it pretty clearly. I typically give the throttle a blip to make sure everything sounds right before easing out, if you drop the clutch too quickly you might get a stall or rough start as the cylinders try to reactivate under load.

According to Stephen, as a kind of dark background to improve the display of glittering names on the membership list, there also appeared the anonymous pseudonyms of most of London’s leading gangsters. But is it a triumph of the operating class, or merely the upper classes going slumming again? The Stones and Beatles hobnob with upper class figures like the Old Etonian art dealer Robert Fraser, Old Etonian antique dealer Christopher Gibbs and Tara Browne, the Guinness heiress.
