All,

I have been loosing clutch fluid. I goes from Max to min after riding for a couple of hundred miles. I suspect its the clutch slave cylinder [possible a leak somewhere].

Does any one encountered this before? If it is the clutch slave cylinder, can any one recommend a good replacement?
Should I get OEM replacement or go aftermarket route?

I have a oem one for sale that has 7,488 miles. Never had a leak or an issue.

Sounds like your slave is shot, do you see any of the fluid anywhere? You may want to figure out where the fluid is going and clean it up, hydraulic fluid is BAD for most anything it touches. Oberon makes an aftermarket slave cylinder, from what I understand it really only effects lever pull, no difference in longevity as far as seals are concerned. You could just rebuild the OEM cylinder, that should be easy enough, very similar to a brake caliper.

My 1299 has been doing the same thing. Going to talk to my service writer at Ducati dealership

I had that problem on my 1199 a year ago. Amazingly, it was less than $300 to replace it at my local dealer....parts and labor.

What piston size do u recommend for me if I’m keeping my stock clutch? Any links?

Stock I believe is 26mm.

From oberons page.....

The Oberon has an even larger(29mm) slave piston, so the action of the clutch lever is 'geared down' even more. This gives a lighter action but at the expense of range of movement of the rod and pressure plate. This means clutch drag is a bigger risk, so the fluid has to be very efficiently bled of air bubbles, which will compress, robbing the system of even more movement.

Replaced my clutch slave cylinder (1299S) with DucaBike at the dealer and had rear tire replaced at 4,000 miles.

I road it an hour home and everything was fine. Took it out the next day for 20 minutes and “beat the balls off if it” as my father says. Parked it and it discharged fluid again.

had to bleed master cylinder again and top off with DOT4

headed back to dealer to fix the issue
