Hi,

Have just ordered newly released 2019 Lightech R resets for my 1299 Panigale. For the time being I was using standard IMO rearsets and decide to go for reverse one this time.
Could anyone (from his own experience) tell me if it is a good decision?I do ride my bike most of the time on the street and track days 2-3 days per year. Should I stay with regular rearsets or reverse option is a good idea?
Thanks in advance for advices.

Personal decision - especially on the street. Once you get used to the reverse/GP shifting you’ll enjoy it! Faster punching through the gears by simply clicking down.

I also do 2 or 3 trackdays a year and quite a bit of street riding (over 15k miles on my 2017). I personally love gp shift! It feels much better to me on both street and track.

Thanks for answers guys.
Love decelerating by punching gears down but I hope that I would love to accelerate in the same way. If transition will be smoother and faster with Gp shift than I am convinced.

The guys I ride with love GP shift. I have tried it and its great when you're going up the gears. I choose not to use it because mobility in my ankle is limited after an injury and I'd rather be able to downshift easier.

Thanks for help. I am pretty confident now that it was good decision to change for GP shift.

I've always felt down to upshift would be much better and smoother. Never tried it because I'm certain I'd screw up and downshift when I really wanted to upshift.

You should try one day :)

Downshifting when I want to upshift? No thanks. Lol

Honestly, when I'm focusing on not upsetting the suspension, especially when leaned over, a quick click down would be nice and probably less upsetting, and I'd likely hit the gear at the exactly moment I intend to upshift.

Perhaps with the autoblipper not shifting up unless you have a load or down unless there's zero load or zero throttle, my fears will be mitigated.

I'm at the point where I know stock rearsets don't allow me to get to my desired body position. Some adjustable ones that can go either way where I can at least try GP shift would be nice.

I have CNC Racing reverse shift on my 1299, Lightech R series reverse shifting on my S1000R and Gilles tooling reverse shifting on my S1000RR. I also am upgrading to a S&S 124 motor on my Harley Dyna and will be installing the Baker Grudgebox tranny. And will be getting in reverse shifting but instead of it being 1st gear up, then down into neutral and the rest downward into 6th. Neutral will be all the way up top, then 1st through 6th will go down. I did it because my friend reversed it on my S1000RR the day i got it. Its a 10 mins procedure. Took me a day to get used to and i liked it. I was going buy new rear sets anyway for my bikes so i decided to keep them all reverse. But didnt just do it because i track my bike. Im not some high level pro. I just did it because i actually liked it. Plus no one ever asks me to ride my bikes because they are afraid to screw things up lol

Sounds like a good-tiny modification.
If it works fine I will ask my guys what do they think about that.

All my old bikes were GP shift and some had the gear lever on the right. Is it better? It may just be a matter of trendy now days, especially for the street.

If you are not a professional racer and only do a few track days a year and ride mostly on the street what is the point of changing except for novelty? If you ride a few other bikes you may get confused, especially in panic situations.

Cheers

Good and valid point too.
