Oh boy....been having a few side discussions on this topic....very interested in what the new Supersport class bike will be. Having a conversation with my dealer tomorrow about swapping out the 'ole Superbikes in the garage and going this route. 200hp can mask a lot of sub-par skills in other areas and from what I hear the new V2 will be pretty darn light paired with a nice torquey bottom end, keeping that Ducati feel.

Thanks for sharing!

9000 miles per oil change? why do they even paper something that stupid...

what stupid in this exactly if you use the bike for shitbucks runs ?

You know short duration cycles on motor oil is the worst right. Figure 5mi each way that’s 1800 short trips/cycles never reaching temp. I would wager a black stone analysis of that oil would show it was toast long before that 9000miles.

define short

start the bike, wait 2 mins and off you go to shitbucks not exceeding 6k rpm

perfectly fine with the engine

most of the zoomers ride like that

The situation you just described is worst case scenario for the oil… 9000 miles like that would be terrible for the engine. Then again 1800 5mile runs to coffee joint is like 7yrs??

Ironic that Ducati is getting away from desmo and consider it “cutting-edge engineering.” I thought desmo was technologically superior to conventional valvetrains??? Another cost-cutting exercise…

9,000 miles is the interval for the current 950 motor so what’s the issue?
This is a Monster, Supersport, Hyper, DS, MTS motor.
Don’t see it replacing the Superquadro in a midsize Panigale. Or Ducati marketing a Panigale V2 replacement with 35hp less than the current bike.

The competition is heating up, very exciting times in the middleweight category

As with the latest Ducati V4 engines, the gearbox can be equipped with Ducati Quick Shift Up and Down (DQS) 2.0. The second-generation DQS uses a strategy based solely on the gear sensor, so that it can use a pedal control with no microswitch. This solution gives the rider more direct feeling, with reduced travel and none of the “gumminess” typical of traditional quick shifters, as well as facilitating the identification of neutral.

A little nugget I didn't know about the newest V4 engines, also found on the new V2.

I dig it so far. I'm super interested in the tech

What’s the new tech? This has all been done before. The only thing new is the marketing pitch.

Though, expect this to be the roadmap for the V4 which has already happened on the Multistrada side

The lighter weight, bigger screen, new chassis, rear brake control, among other things. This is a totally new bike compared to the V2 which was an evolution of the 959 which was an evolution of the 899. I expect this to be much more fun to ride than my 899 with $15k in upgrades.
