Well, I doubled my total mileage today. Got in some highway riding and hit the country twisties we have out here. Some observations:

Heat wasn't an issue outside of one time I went the wrong way and had to go through a few intersections. Temps later in the ride were in the mid 90's F.

It died on me one time in a parking lot after it started just fine. I thought I bumped something but I certain now that I did not. It took me a few bumps of the starter to get it fired back up. No issues with this through the remainder of the day.

Damn this thing drinks the fuel. I don't know what others are getting but my average mpg is 30.1 right now. Seems low to me.

Comfort seat is great. Probably the best seat I've had on a sport bike. Money well spent in my opinion.

Definitely need a different windscreen. At 80+ I was fighting the wind while tucked.

Just started using the quick shifter and damn is that nice. Much smoother when performing hard acceleration. Seems to be a smoother shift in the higher gears as well. I've never had this feature so I still find myself using the clutch on most occasions.

I'm getting a decent amount of what I believe to be chain lube under the tail section. I have to wipe it off after just about every ride.

Ergo's are great. I'm 6'2" and I didn't feel cramped or uncomfortable at all.

No clutch issues. Fluid is getting a bit dark but still as smooth as the day I rode home.

All in all in was a good day. I staying close to the 6k rpms but I did jump into the 8k range a few times. I'm looking forward to my first service.

I am loving this bike.

Yep I did about 180 miles today. Had to add a couple hundred cc's of oil but not too bad. Mileage, I'm getting around 32-35 mpg as near as I can tell.

The white chain lube from the factory flings EVERYWHERE (wd 40 cleans it right off). I'd consider going to the dupont chain saver teflon lube . No fling with it.

I too finally got a decent ride in today...around 200 miles in an area NW of Houston called the "Forest". Some great twisty roads.

I met up with a BMW rider at a pit stop...very good rider and he led the way. Gave me and the Pani a good workout. I can't believe how good this bike handles at speed..the Sachs rear and Marzocchi forks are more then satifactory for this level of riding. Traction control light came on several times during some high speed 15-30 mph curves. Heat was not an issue at all including riding back thru heavy traffic on I-45.

It's also very comfortable...more so than my Hayabusa which I don't have anymore...No issues whatso ever including smoking or oil consumption.

Gas mileage is around 30-31 but I'm convinced this will get bet as the bike is broken in. It was a chore keeping the revs below 6K, in fact I failed several times as I powered thru some curves. A beautiful machine in every sense of the term!

More comfortable than the Busa? For real ?
I'm trading a 2010 Busa (did 220km on her today) for the Pani and after reading all the reports on the uncomfortable seat and heat etc I'm amazed to read this.

Comfort seat is key. I think the perfect combination is going to be the comfort seat + the DP tall windscreen.

Picked up my comfort seat yesterday. Raining like crazy , so have not tried it yet.

I only sat on my stock set for a while at the dealership before I switched. All the miles I rode yesterday and the seat comfort was not a problem. It actually looks good too. Some of the more comfortable seats I've seen for other bikes just don't look right.

Yeah , I'm loving the red stitching ! And I like the two-tone seat materials also. Looks sharp !

171 miles on the bike after 3 rides and was going to get to the 600 mark this w/e. however, it started raining Thursday night and literally hasn't stopped since. Actually went out to garage on Saturday just to start the bike - withdrawal syndrome!!

And yes, man does that factory chain lube fling off. Cleaned the wheel twice now. Think I'll just get it off and put some proper stuff on.

For us of shorter stature (5'7" or 170cm) what's the effective seat height difference after putting a body on it?

I'm thinking of the comfort seats - both rider and pillion, but also imagining my dangling legs

I would say its about 1/2" to 1" higher than a stock seat.

Josh, I think the problem for me with the busa was being stretched out more. The area between my shoulderblades would kill me during any kind of long ride. Riding the same route that I did yesterday on the busa used to result in me looking for pulloffs more often than not. Neither the stock seat nor the heat were issues on the pani. This was probably because I was riding aggressively and was tucked in more. Obviously the ducati is made for that. Commuting in heavy traffic may be different story...

Wife woke me up at 10:00 this morning saying " It's sunny out , lets ride ! ". So I through on my comfort seat , and off we went. Her on her 08 ZX10R , and me on my new pride and joy ! Had to come into work tonight , but was able to put another hundred miles on the odo. I'm up to 350 miles now ! I love this bike ! The sound , the power , the looks ! Just bad-ass ! Comfort seat is money well spent ! Very comfortable , and after the ride I did'nt feel liked I had been raped by an ass-bandit ! Nice ! I'm 5'9" , and could push my heels down flat if I tried. But, just the balls of my feet touched when relaxing. Great morning , great ride ! Have fun guys , and ride safe !

The taller DP windscreen is the way to go, however, if the mirrors are hit and rotated, they will crack the taller windscreen. Ducati found out about that after all of the windscreens were produced. Supposedly, there will be a new screen produced with a relief cut in it so that the mirrors won't damage the windscreen. Obviously if you are on the track without mirrors this is not an issue. Also, some taller riders have complained about the DP comfort seat. Although it gives them more leg room, it also puts them further from the bars and increases pressure on the wrists.

I know this may be contrary to most opinions, but I really like the stock seat, apart from the fact it is too slippery. I'm going to get it re-covered with Alcantara in the off season, but I'm going to stick with it (if not to it)...
