Here is the estimate I just received from dealer. Seems a bit high for a "discounted" price, but it always seems high to me because I'm cheap. Can you all post any estimates you get? This also includes replacing front sprocket for even wear:

Shop Materials: $20.00
Labor: $162.00
Parts Total: $301.97 (Chain $127.99, rear sp $127.99, front sp $45.99)
Tax: $24.53
Estimate Total: $508.50

Check out Ducati of Omaha's or Pro Italia's website's for the parts to see if the prices are cheaper than list price. As far as labor, in my area, Ducati work is $90/hr so the work does not seem overpriced.

I did some similar work to my Streetfighter last year and it took me a around 2 hours. I am sure they go by published rates for the labor.

We've all talked about this, I would go with the AFAM setup for $400 (same labor). Lighter, better chain, and you can quick change the sprocket in/out yourself.

Still a definite possibility. I just want to also make sure my dealer isn't full of crap. I wanted to see if Ducati would actually "discount" as they said to really beat the aftermarket options. Of which there seem to be manyfor not too much more than what I'm being quoted:

Sprocket & Chain Kits - 1199 Panigale 2012-2013 - Ducati - Sportbike Sprockets

To be fair, the Ducati kit is not an alloy/quickchange, and the chain is their stock with a couple more links. If you are more concerned about extreme longevity than weight, and don't need to swap out sprockets, their solution is fine.

As I stated in a previous thread, the 41T sprocket "kit" has not been officially released by Ducati yet, they're saying mid-late April and there will be a specific bulletin sent to dealers with all of the details at that time. It's possible there will be a further discounted price for the "kit" when it is released vs. the price of the individual sprocket and chain part numbers you're currently looking at. We don't know for sure at this point, I'd guess the factory has not even decided what they want to do yet, so I'd hold off on making an assumption on that until it's official if you're trying to weigh a cost/benefit comparison. However, the Ducati kit will be a steel replacement sprocket just like the stock one, and won't have the advantages of the quick-change setup as mentioned above. I have the AFAM quick-change 41t 520 kit on mine.

Good point. I know they are just running these as Ducati has just released part numbers, but there may indeed by a discount on it that the dealer shop has no idea about yet. Thanks. I'll try to be patient. Though it's hitting 72 here Friday so spring is here. So I'm chomping at the bit to get infomation on this upgrade. :)

And while I'd like lighter alloy (and cooler colors), I really don't have any need for quick change as I'm just a street guy. So I'd pay a little more for it, but not a lot more.

By the way, I am aware of, and have read, all the other threads surrounding the sprockets. I don't mean to rehash sprockets, I just wanted to start a new thread to compare estimates as they start coming in from dealers.

Your quote at 300, is already cheaper than AFAM, it can only go down from there! The 41T map is free if you do Ducati's kit - so that saves you another $30 if you wanted the map for the AFAM.

Rick who did you get the estimate from? I will go to the "other" local dealer and get an estimate so we can compare.

Cross Country Ducati in metuchen- $120 an hour for ducati work.
they can go .... themselves. after buying two ducs from them none of them are going back there for service. god damn ripoff.

i ordered mine through Motowheels (525 longevity, 15/40)....have always been super happy with their service, and it helps that they're on the left coast.

From GP motorcycles in San Diego:

"The chain and sprockets run $262 after tax for parts, and would cost $90 to install"

total: $352

they are ripping you off

I ordered mine from Kyle racing. They have an AFAM 520 conversion kit for $339.00 kit includes:
15T front sprocket (or your choice of size)
41T rear sprocket (or your choice of size)
Carrier
ERV3 chain

DIY install or it shouldn't take no longer than 1hr for any dealer to install.
