I am in the market for a 749 and wanted to know what upgrade does the S offer. Also, comparing a 749S to a straight 999, is the difference major regarding low end torque, etc... Thank you!

I had a 06 749s, from what I remember it had different cams and the white number plate tail section. I believe that's the only difference between the base and "s" model. Yes, the 999 has a lot more torque, I would opt for that over the smaller bike.
I agree. I had a 748 and it was fun but always needed to wind it up. I also had a 999S which was buttery and silky and a 999 which was more visceral but both were fabulous. I like the yellow so I might never find a yellow 999S though. There's one in Tx that's nice but way overpriced. LOL
