Today my 1199r would be ready for delivery at noon. So I took my S1000rr for a 220 mile loop in the morning that got me past the 600 mile break-in, yeh!

Rode it to Mancuso BMW-Ducati and checked it in for its first service and the all important removal of the 7k rev limiter :D They offered to do the service while I waited, that was nice but I took the new r home and got the BMW latter. Ah the life LOL!

Took delivery of the r and got it home. Cleaned it up a little and checked over the fasteners. Took a copy of pic's. Tomorrow morning taking the r for a 200+ mile ride. Weather is fabulous

Since you rode the BMW and ducati back to back can you give me a head to head comparison?

waw... must indeed be one great day... :) sorry the anticipation is now over... :)

So far: the Duc turns in a little faster probably due to less overall weight and the light wheels. I don't see this as an advantage it's just different. The BMW turns very well also.

I have not pushed the brakes hard on either one yet. I'll do that soon and give an opinion. Cannot give any top end power comparisons either as the BMW has been limited to 7k rpm during break-in. Next ride out I'll get to compare.

One difference is the Duc can't cruise is higher gears. It feels "lugged" whereas the BMW and other inline 4's I've rode before were happy cruising along at 70-80mph is sixth. The Duc likes 4th at 70-80mph.

Looks wise, I like them both. The BMW front end doesn't bother me one bit. I like the uniqueness. The Duc certainly looks more exotic and sleek. The BMW looks strong and muscular.

Just curious. Have no real interest in them and so don't pay attention to details about them. But.....the S1000RR actually comes with a 7k rev limiter for break-in?

You are right. The Ducati does not like being run below about 4000 rpm. Hopefully you have a chance now to open up the BMW. I'd really like to ride that bike sometime, but the next few weeks are out.
