I want to put ABS on my bike. Is it just the matter of getting the pump and plugging it in? I doubt it right? lol

I was just thinking it might be nice on street..for unforeseen instances and then turn it off when I go to the track. Wasn't quite aware it need so many items..wishful thinking.. it was plug and play..lol

it requires a new Full wire harness, Pump, lines, BBS etc.. I have replaced everything including the main ECU and it still wont recognize the speed sensors. there may be some programming even in the dash before it will work. Tuneboy said he would look into turning it on, but has never gotten back to me and just left me hanging.. :-(

Yeah... This is one of those things you don't just upgrade your bike to have. when the 1199 first came out I feel that anyone who didn't want to spend an extra $1,000 for abs was crazy because not only would retrofitting be next to impossible (or $5,000) their resale values would take a MAJOR hit.

Always consider resale value when you make large purchases people :)

Ridden 35+ yrs without ABS on a motorcycle. Don't see any particular reason to start now.

And I really don't give a damn about resale value. I tend to hold on to a M/C for a long time - well past the point where any specific feature being present or lacking would have any significant impact on resale.

Adds weight and not much use on the track, I wish with the R model you had the option of not purchasing it along with the electronic suspension

It only would have been useful for me once, but that one time cost me a totaled 848 and 2 collarbone surgeries.

Update! I took it to the dealer, they cleared the error codes and all the sensors started working perfectly! I now have fully functioning ABS! Woot woot..

riding 35+ years without abs doesn't make you a genius....."and it shows" :) -- the reason to start now, is ABS works better than regular breaking....you know, like the telephone works better than smoke signals

....Sorry Charlie90....i just couldn't help myself....i've ridden 35+ myself, and got a laugh reading your post....hope you forgive me :)
