My 1199 is primarily for race use.

My previous race bikes have all had aftermarket braided stainless lines, but they were all japanese bikes or supermoto conversions, so the upgrade was a no-brainer.

Am I correct (albeit surprised) that the 1199's stock brake lines are not braided SS?
According to comments on this thread, it would appear so....

My brakes work fine, but they are a bit "squishier" than I would like. I just changed the brake fluid, and I can try another bleed, but I was wondering if other people were upgrading the lines.

Only reason to change brake lines is if you have an ABS bike and you're going to ditch the ABS system.

if the squishiness doesnt come from the lines then where?
will it ruin the abs if you go to a braided stainless steel line?

Huh? My lines are all braided.

I can't imagine what a more direct braking system must feel like? The brakes on mine are as solid as any other sport bike I've ridden. Maybe you need pads with more bite?
