Has anyone tried aftermarket triple clamps for the 1199, is there much to be gained by making this modification to the 1199 unless the existing triple clamps are great as they are?

You can go to less offset, the RobbyMoto ones out of Italy are adjustable I believe 26mm, 28mm, 30mm(stock). They said a lot of the racers in Europe were running 26mm with the adjustable head inserts set to 24 degree rake on the 1199R, we were running 28mm with the stock 24.5 degree rake and that worked pretty well. I had stock 30mm on mine and never had any problems with front grip or pushing wide in turns, so I saw no need to change it, but a pro-level rider might.

Thanks for the helpful response.

I will leave this as a last resort option but will try a few things before hand. If you do not mind me asking, what front and rear sag are you running or you ran on your 1199 on track? I am on 37mm front and 30mm rear and it goes wide in places during corner entry and exit. I was thinking of running 35mm front sag and 26mm rear. Btw, these are for the FGRT front forks and TTX rear. Still getting used to them..

I was running 7mm of fork tube above the triple, with 38mm sag in front, and 30mm in rear. I had the NIX30 fork cartridges in the base model forks and TTX rear. Ride height in rear was 306mm eye-to-eye length on shock with linkage on Flat setting. I did have problems with it running wide on corner entry if I didn't ride hard and trail into the turns, but if I trailed in to keep the front compressed it never ran wide. Dropping the fork tubes a little helped with that as well, which is how I ended up at 7mm of fork tube showing. If it's running wide on the exit after you're on the gas, then the rear is probably squatting too much, give it a click or two of compression and see if it gets better but keep an eye on rear tire wear for signs of it spinning up if you go too stiff on the compression.

I am 5mm above the triple clamps compared to your 7mm and on 37mm front sag, rear eye to eye is 306mm with 30mm sag. Not far off.. However, the damping values are fine and there is no squatting issue at all but looks like I need to play with trail value to get it to suit my style of riding. May be its a geometry issue for me?

Have you tried raising the rear by changing the eye to eye length to a different number, or perhaps just the sag, what sort of improvements did you get if any?

Yeah, I ran as high as 310mm on the rear at one point, but it started introducing more wheelspin so I went back down with it.
