Hey guys, I am looking for some help regarding a riding suit for daily commute.

I would like to ride my bike to work 2-3 days a week but work dress code (dress pants, collared shirts and dress shoes) prevents me from doing so.

My only option is to find a riding suit/all weather suit that would allow me ride with my work clothes and shoes on. Is there such a thing? A full all weather zipper suit, shoe covers included?

is that even possible or am I asking for something that doesn't exists?

I don't have saddle bags etc so commuting with a different set of shoes/clothes is not an option.

Any ideas?

i tend to commute sometimes on the bike and I do a few options.

I bring a back pack for my work shoes and dress shirt (i buy the wrinkle free ones to make it work).

and other option is i just have a spare set of clothes in my office. I ride in my riding gear, get to work, change and then when I am going home i switch back into my riding clothes and head home. Once a week i drive in to take home my work clothes to get them dry cleaned and I switch them out with a new set of dry cleaned clothes. Just makes it less of a hassle in the long run... however you do need a good amount of work clothes to make this work the way i do

Aerostitch Roadcrafter... get a custom built suit, for a sports bike you want forward rotated arms and 2 inches added above the knee. They can be pricey but they last forever. Nothing beats a full gortex suit. In a heavy downpour it can leak through the zippers slightly on the lower leg and sometimes the side but I only had it happen in epic downpours when I had to ride for an hour +

Do you have casual Friday's? If so that's when I would commute.

This is the reason I cant ride everyday either. I tried.

Right now in NC, we are either getting rain during the day or a heat index of 105+

It just makes riding horrible. I dont know about global warming but I sure do miss the riding seasons I enjoyed 8-10 years ago when this didnt happen.

I daily drive the 1199 and use the following.

Kreiga 30L backpack
Kreiga US 25 bags on the rear. (This is the same setup Antihero)

For a all weather suit I use the Dainese Rain Suit and they make boot covers as well.

Rode into work today and I thought about this thread. This is how I do it almost 40 mile round trip every day.

Its been stupid hot here all week and it rained like cray yesterday. So this week wasn't really a "ride to work" week. Today I did it because I am going to Euro Bike night and it be easier instead of going home, getting the bike and swinging back around.

I ironed my shirt and tried to fold it nicely into my back pack. I put it into the laptop slot to keep it nice and crisp. I was wrong, luckily I had a dryer near buy and threw it in there for 3 minutes on high heat. Its not 100% ironed but got most of its form back.

The shirts I wear are the Jos A banks travelers. They are price but are meant to be very minimal iron. I usually iron them on Sundays and can get 2-3 uses out of them unless they get filthy or you sweat alot in them.

When I know I am going to ride all week, I pack up the car with my suits and shirts and used one of the extra lockers in the Service Technician locker room. Then the only thing in my backpack is just Ties, shoes and Socks.

I work at a dealer ship and I haven't bought a dedicated Riding book pack yet. Just using a cheap school one. Our dealership is under remodel but when they are done there is an extra office up stairs(currently occupied by the forman) that I would use. I will probably bring an Old Iron and ironing board and leave it up there. We never use that office anyway.

Thats my .02 cents.

BMW designed a suit specifically for this type of riding situation: BMW CoverAll Suit from BMW MOTORCYCLES OF SAN FRANCISCO

the armor is lighter/smaller than in their regular jackets and it's pretty thin without extra liners, which I'd say is a good thing - commuting wear puts a premium on comfort over protection. Otherwise, the ideal would be to wear one-piece leathers all the time, which I actually did at one time, when my office had a private bathroom/shower.

breathability is paramount with all-weather rainsuits. I have a one-piece BMW rainsuit that isn't breathable, and it is intolerably sweaty and hot in weather over 50 degrees, no exaggeration. I actually use that suit as a vapor barrier insulator in very cold weather. Summer mesh armor over long underwear, maybe another layer of fleece, then that "rain" suit.

Fortunately, my current job allows me to wear casual jeans, so I use BMW jeans nearly year-round. They're comfortable and very well armored.

(obviously, I'm a fan of overpriced BMW riding gear, but having crashed while wearing it, I've become a believer in those weird orange rubbery things they use for armor)

Can any of these full riding suits fold up in a back pack?

Another issue I had with commuting is exhaust smell. I am thinking its the position of the exhaust ports cause pants to smell like exhaust.

Rev it and Klein do some really good all weather suits that's are breathable and rain proof.

They would be my top choice
