Hey guys, the steering damper rod on my panigale snapped during a crash while I was racing. Ohlin's seems to be the only legitimate replacement. Are there any alternatives to Ohlins which don't run $400?

A used Ohlins damper

I purchased mine on here used for $125. Oem from an S model. Be patient and they may pop up. If you can't wait, pay up. Probably $300 n up.

Search for K-Tech as well, have their cartridges and rear shock and it is a solid product.

Seems to be about the same price as Ohlins but that's to be expected for a quality product. I have seen some K-Techs on other panigales and they looked amazing : )

I have the bitubo (as well as front internals and complete shock) on my track bike and i like it a lot!
Only downside: the availability of parts is a real pita. It has become so problematic, my dealer (who used to be an exclusive bitubo dealer) stopped working with bitubo.

If I were you, get an Ohlins. Peace of mind is also worth something.

I can fully understand the tangible benefits of quality forks and shock, and have paid a few thousand £'s over the years to improve or replace these on my last 5 bikes.
I can not understand though, how a steering damper which is basically a hole with a tapered needle, however accurately machined it may be, can cost £400. I am mainly a street rider, and appreciate how if you are racing at 10/10ths, you may tell the difference in a quality STEERING DAMPER. I sure cant. The £30 adjustable one from Ebay does the job just fine. BTW 255mm travel on the damper allowed full travel, I was concerned about that. Screenshot_20220511_215439.jpg

Ooops, sorry Endodoc! Post somehow came up on my display, and i did not look at the date. May be useful to some, hopefully. Panza is defo not the first to baulk at the price of these things (3 years ago!)
