An EPA regulation makes modification of your street bike illegal and could make MotoAmerica racing illegal.

An EPA spokeswoman, in response to questions from a writer at Autoblog, said that modifying emissions-certified street vehicles for racing has always been illegal.

The penalty for turning a street bike into a race bike that's not in compliance with emissions regulations: $37,500 per violation. That’ll put a dent in any race team’s budget.

It's all blown out of proportion, EPA law has been on the
books for decades, they are just re stating it.
FFS they cannot even enforce the rediculous diesel
Rules in CA of all places many truck owners are removing
Because it doesn't work burns more fuel and makes a simple
Engine unreliable, how the H are they going to check
all the street derived race cars & bikes
Many states like my MT still do not even have vehicle inspections
Never mind a smog test.

F big gov & the EPA

Understood; but, that the law exists is itself an issue and the fact that it is being restated is a potential signal to eventual enforcement. This parallels the messaging coming out of Brussels for the EU.

I think the EPA just like most gov agencies in that it is bloated and misguided. I personally don't think catalytic conv are all that great either.
they are always worried about evaporative emissions and such when reality is the new gas cans they force us to use cause us to spill 30% of each gallon anyway.
ethanol is terrible, extremely inefficient - yet requires fossils fuels to produce ( I think 1.5 gallons of fossil fuels to produce one gallon of ethanol IIRC)
hell most of our real pollution problems have been caused by the government.

just thinking about it makes my blood boil

and no politics please

vote for a smaller government though LOL J/K

But what does this mean by showing a "Zero" in the box stating there are no more signatures needed by March 10, 2016? (See Attachment)

If I recall correctly, the petition only requires 150,000 signatures for it to be tabled to government. That does not mean that more signatures does not add weight to the movement, just that they have enough to move forward.

Bike people are late to the party, SEMA had this posted all over the web about 2-3 weeks ago. Course I'm not saying don't sign of course do. However as it stands right now they are just re stating a rule that dates from 1963. They still have zero enforcement from the leading edge of the EPA focus " Heavy Duty Diesel Trucks'

Done.

But when I was in school many years ago, all the techs were taught that it was a $20,000 fine to remove the cats from a car or bike. $10,000 fine to program a diesel pickup funky.

But it's weird to see them go after unlicensed race machines that had a tag in a previous life. This does nothing for the environment. Racing is just a drop in the ocean.

I don't get why'd they bother with this when the vast majority of newer sportbikes are an instant $20,000 fine on the street. I guess if everyone's illegal there's little they can do that's effective.

The EPA has been able to do more damage to the economy of the USA than any other communist program in history, they have also been able to use it to attack personal freedom and due process.EPA is also going after the Automobile aftermarket. They are commies, bent on the destruction of the USA it's economy and constitution.

Ummm, No. It's the industries they go after that have done damage to economy and quality of life.

Unless, of course, you get a big thrill up your leg from watching rivers burn. Or you judge your quality of life by how close you live to a toxic waste dump.
