From the very first weekend and 1,200-mile ride, I posted the issue of poor starting when hot/warm, and many of you have also had the same issue.
I am now happy to report that for more than two months, I have not had the issue. I think this may be related to having finally broken in the engine and the way I have been riding it.
First 1,500 miles: I was very diligent in following the break-in instructions from Ducati, keeping it under 6K for the first 621 miles and under 7K for the first 1,500 miles. I used all of the gears and varyied the load on the engine.
Now at 3,450 miles: For the last couple of months I have been redlining the engine in the first two gears and pretty much have been riding it only in the first three gears -- because I am on public roads and 10K in third gear is (would be, I am told) stupid fast (yet fun).
Anyway, in discussions with my dealer over the weekend they told me that Ducati "unofficially” told them that they think the poor starting issue was a function of the bike not being ridden hard enough; that is, ridden as instructed by the break-in procedure.
So, if you are still having the issue of the bike having starting issues when hot/warm, try riding it to redline in each gear and using that glorious top end and let us know if that makes a difference after a while. It did for me.
