I was just wondering if there's any known problems with any of these yrs or if they're pretty much bullet proof, sorry for the abundance of questions I have, just making sure I cover all areas before I purchase my 1199(which will be in 5months when the wife finishes school lol)

I cannot speak to the 12 and 13 model, but I have a 14 and have not had any problems with it.

Everyone's definition of 'cons' may be different.

I have the 13' model and what it doesn't have over the 14 that I didn't like is the bigger rear sprocket on the 14. I had to upgrade my front sprocket due to the unbearable under 4k riding.

Also, the 12' model didn't have the oil view port in the fairing so you had to peer through back on the fairing or remove it.

I have a '12 Tri that I bought last October and had to have LH wiring harness recall done. Other than that, no problems for me so far.

The later models years of any production line are going to integrate the most improvements. So, I'd order them as 14, 13, and 12.

A saying I've heard many time, the last days of old technology are always better than the first days of new technology.

Ask anyone who's been an early adopter of a new smartphone.

'14s come with a 39 tooth rear. Only the R has a bigger sprocket.

I thought it first came out on the 14 model R though (I wasn't specifying models as I'm not sure which one he wants.

Also, I think there was an issue with the salve cover on the 2012 model... Someone correct me if I am wrong but I know if a few that had leaking valve covers due to some paint issues

Owner of a 2012 Tricolore which doesn't have many miles on it and probably doesn't have anything else I could do to it for mods (unless I go into the engine and power plant) and within this forum you'll find all the initial issues with this brand new style bike when it was first released. Sure there were many issues, recalls, and bulletins which worked themselves out over time. But these bikes are phenomenal and like all initial releases they had their troubles.

Go with your gut and the maintenance records of anything you're looking to purchase my man. Folks here can surely help you too!

Reliability-wise I would say they are the all similar.

The 2015s have the full package and have all the bells and whistles that other manufacturers are still to implement on their bikes.

OP, if you asked this question because you are wanting to buy a used one...

Personally, I would buy the newest one you can afford. A 13 or 14 will still have some warranty left for an added piece of mind...

No big problems with any of them.

I think I was replying to the "1199S or 1299 base thread" on this one. I don't know what happened.

Anyway, they are all similar in make and reliability. You probably already know, the less miles and the newer the model, the better.

Look into getting Ducati Ever Red. I am not sure what it is now, but you can get extended warranty for a bike that has its original warranty expire. The dealer just has to inspect the bike.

Good luck!
